French filmmaker Luc Besson has started work on his first directorial effort since 1999. ARTHUR stars Mia Farrow and Freddy Highmore, and is based around a little boy, Arthur (Higmore), who turns to the help of the pixie-like Minimoys to help save his grandfather's house. Farrow will play his Mum, and Madonna, David Bowie and Snoop Dogg are to provide voices for the film's animated characters.
Variety reports that the film started shooting in Normandy, France on Monday and will wrap sometime in July. The film is set for delivery at next year's Cannes Film Festival.
The film has already been in the making for two years, and will have cost 60 million Euros.
