After sustaining several broken bones on Tuesday in a horseback-riding accident at her country estate in Ashcombe, just outside London, Madonna is “not feeling too bad and is recovering well,” her spokesperson Liz Rosenberg told MTV News.
The singer, who turned 47 on Tuesday, was rushed to the nearby Salisbury District Hospital, where she was treated for three cracked ribs, a broken collarbone and a broken hand. Rosenberg said that Madonna took a spill while riding a horse she was unaccustomed to.
“The whole family was out in the country, celebrating her birthday,” she told The Associated Press. “She’s walking and talking, [but] I don’t know if she’s going to be hanging from a disco ball anytime soon.”
Madonna’s husband, director Guy Ritchie, drove her to the hospital, which released her Tuesday night.
While Madonna’s required recovery period is as yet undetermined, her record label does not anticipate any delays in the release or promotional activities for her forthcoming album, Confessions on a Dance Floor, due November 15. The album is “very, very close to completion,” Rosenberg said.
