Pop star Madonna has vowed a return to horseriding as soon as she recovers from a fall that left her with several broken bones. The singer said she was “grateful and overwhelmed by everyone’s good wishes” since the accident on Tuesday.
“As soon as doctors give me the okay, I expect to be right back on a horse and riding again,” the 47-year-old singer told The Sun newspaper. Madonna fell from her horse on the grounds of her West Country estate.
The horse was a birthday present given to her that day by film director husband Guy Ritchie.
The singer, who is planning to release a new album in November, is recovering from her injuries at Ashcombe house, on the border of Wiltshire and Dorset.
Madonna’s UK spokeswoman, Barbara Charone, said the accident would not delay the new album’s release.
Madonna and Guy Ritchie bought Ashcombe House in 2001
“Her LP is finished and is on course to come out in November with a single prior,” she told the BBC News website. The pop star is also planning to go on tour next summer.
Madonna sustained three cracked ribs, a broken collar bone and a fractured hand after falling from her horse.
She was treated in hospital in Salisbury, Wiltshire.
The musician’s US spokeswoman Liz Rozenberg said she had been riding for four of five months and spent “a lot of time” horseriding while in the country.
