Pitchfork Hung Up Review
Any song that samples the throbbing beat and Ren Fest keyboards of ABBA’s “Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight)” at least has a solid foundation; no surprise, that sample is the best and biggest part of the track. “Hung Up” is another non-song like “Music”, where the structure is loose enough to emphasize the music and the lyrics are general enough to pertain to either religion or cute boys. Still, there’s enough of a rewrite here to justify the love: that big two-part chorus, those pop melodies that ride ABBA’s groove, even the way the time-keeps-ticking theme acknowledges that the inspiration for the song (and the sample) is decades old. Kylie, Gwen, and so many others have shaken ass on this particular dancefloor before, but “Hung Up” still sounds like a strong return to Madonna’s former fabulousness. (Rated 3.5 out of 5)

Madonna’s latest documentary, I’m Going to Tell You a Secret, airs Friday on MTV, but the Material Mom – rarely known for her discretion – is already uncovering some hidden tales about herself when it comes to keeping her kids in line.
“When Daddy gets home, they get chocolate,” Madonna, 47, tells Newsweek about her and husband Guy Richie’s child-rearing techniques for 9-year-old Lourdes and 5-year-old Rocco. “I’m the disciplinarian.”
How tough is she as a Mommy Dearest? Very. Off-limits to the children are TV and magazines – not to mention milk and ice cream.
The real battle seems to be over laundry. Should Lourdes dare to leave dirty clothes on the floor, Madonna tells the magazine, “We take all of her clothes and put them in a bag, and she has to earn all of her clothes back by being tidy. … She wears the same outfit every day to school until she learns her lesson.”
Not that Madonna confines her disciplinary action to her children. As Richie, 37, reveals to Britain’s Glamour magazine, his wife has reined in his habit of spending three nights a week at a pub (though he hints that he still spends two nights a week there).
Of life with his wife, he says: “Ultimately it boils down to the same thing all relationships boil down to – eating humble pie. I sometimes eat quite a lot. But, however bitter it might taste, it’s the best pie. It’s on the menu constantly for both parties.”
Madonna, meanwhile, releases her new album, Confessions on a Dance Floor, on Nov. 15, but this week the wheels are in motion to start promoting the disc and its first single, “Hung Up.” The song debuts Monday on MTV’s Total Request Live.

Madonna is back Nov. 15 with Confessions on a Dance Floor, her first album of new material since her American Life CD hit in 2003, and viewers can get a preview of the Material Mom on the road with her kids in her new documentary, “I’m Going To Tell You A Secret.”
Airing Friday, October 21 on MTV, “Secret” follows the performer onstage and off during her recent Re-Invention Tour. In the years since her first, highly successful documentary, “Truth or Dare,” viewers get to see how Madonna’s music — and how she, as a person — have evolved stylistically and spiritually. The film includes all the highs and lows of life on the road, from dancer auditions and rehearsals to Madonna’s time spent with the people who inspire her work and feed her soul: her family and friends, artists, hubby Guy Ritchie and children Lourdes and Rocco.
Madonna’s very first live appearance in support of the new disc is scheduled for today’s “Total Request Live” on MTV, offering fans a first-listen to her hotly anticipated single “Hung Up.” It will be also be her first promotional appearance since she injured herself in a horseback-riding accident around her birthday in August.

The Bosh Hung Up Review
The first single from Madonna’s new dance album, has leaked on the Internet. Queens are going crazy trying to get a real copy of Hung Up. Having played Hung up 55 times, I can officially say Madonna makes me feel like such a girl.
“I want people to jump out of their seats! My record is about having a good time straight through and nonstop,” says Madonna.
“She has a dance halo over her head” says Madonna’s co-producer and partner in crime, Grammy-award winner Stuart Price. “It’s in her blood. The music came straight from the gut – no preconceived notions – unencumbered – not over-edited – just very spontaneous. We sat in my little studio at home and the songs just flowed very quickly,” concluded Price.
On Monday, the Material Girl will perform her new single, “Hung Up,” on MTV’s “Total Request Live.” A few days later, Madonna’s “I’m Going to Tell You a Secret” will debut on MTV, then air on VH1 and Logo the following week. A 10-minute preview is available on-demand at Vspot, VH1’s broadband entertainment service.

Madonna is back on the comeback trail. After the critical and commercial disappointment of 2003’s American Life – her lowest-selling record to date – Madonna is wisely heading back to the dance floor. “Hung Up”? is the first single from her upcoming album Confessions on a Dance Floor. Lyrically, “Hung Up”? is a generic I-will-survive break up song, but fortunately has a killer chorus: “Every little thing that you say or do/ I’m hung up/ I’m hung up on you.”? Madonna’s latest producer du jour, Stuart Price (a.k.a. remixer Jacques Lu Cont) does a nice job of adding French-electro sophistication to the 4/4 beat proceedings. Add those elements up with a clever sample of Abba’s “Gimmie, Gimmie, Gimmie”? and you’ve got yourself a sizeable pop hit. While “Hung Up” doesn’t rank as one of the best Madonna singles, it should more than do the trick in bringing her back near the top of the Billboard Hot 100. (Warner Bros.)
