The unions of Orthodox Brotherhoods and of Orthodox Gonfalon-bearers, as well as the Christian Renaissance Union, will hold a protest action against Madonna’s Moscow show at Pushkin square in downtown Moscow on September 4.
The protesters will demand that the authorities “ban at least the act involving the crucifixion of the artist in a crown of thorns and if Madonna refuses to do so, to ban her concert as a blasphemous act that offends the feelings of worshipers,” a statement by the Orthodox organizations given to Interfax reads.
Promoters for Madonna’s Moscow concert confirmed that her performance will take place on September 12.
