Madonna has announced a second Chicago show on her fast-selling Sticky & Sweet Tour later this year.

Following the immediate sell-out of Madonna’s Oct. 26 stop at the United Center, a final United Center performance on Oct. 27 was announced today.

Tickets for the Oct. 27 performance will go on sale at 10 a.m. June 2 at Ticketmaster outlets (312-559-1212, ticketmaster.com) and on LiveNation.com.

Sales for the Sticky & Sweet tour continue to sizzle in many other markets. A second show added in Paris, too.

The Zurich show scheduled for Aug. 30 at the Military Airfield Deubendorf has topped the 70,000 mark in sales.

Other sellouts include three shows at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Oct. 6-7 and 11, and Boston on Oct. 15.

North American stadium shows go on sale the weekend of May 31-June 1 for Los Angeles, San Diego, Houston and Miami, along with arena shows in Denver, Las Vegas, Philadelphia, Atlanta and Atlantic City.

Madonna also will make a different kind of appearance this summer on the other side of Lake Michigan.

Documentary filmmaker Michael Moore announced last weekend that Madonna will appear for a screening of ”I Am Because We Are” — her new documentary about the impoverished nation of Malawi — during the Traverse City Film Festival on Aug. 2.

Ticket sales for Madonna’s highly anticipated Sticky & Sweet Tour continued to explode throughout Europe and North America, it was confirmed by the tour’s producer, Live Nation.

The demand for tickets in Paris for Madonna’s scheduled September 20th performance was so staggering that a second and final performance has just been announced for September 21st. The Sticky & Sweet Zurich show at the Military Airfield Deubendorf scheduled for August 30th has just glided past the 70,000 mark as Madonna fans buy tickets in record breaking numbers for that show as well as in Vancouver, where Madonna’s October 30th performance sold 50,000 tickets in a record breaking 29 minutes. In addition, due to instant sellouts in Toronto at Air Canada Centre on October 18th and Montreal at the Bell Centre on October 22nd, second shows in both markets have been added — October 19th in Toronto at the Air Canada Centre and October 23 at Montreal’s Bell Centre. These new sellout performances add to a list of sellouts that already include three sold out Madison Square Garden shows in New York City on October 6, 7 and 11 and sellouts in Boston and Chicago where a second show October 27th at the United Center will go on sale on June 2nd. Madonna refused to pay a L45,000 hotel bill after a TV crew sneaked into her suite and filmed her loo, it is claimed.

The pop diva, 49, was furious after footage of the plush rooms at the Carlton Intercontinental that she used for Cannes was shown on France’s Canal Plus.

Cameramen had sneaked into the hotel, which had provided purified water on tap and gym gear, before she arrived, French newspaper Le Parisien claims.

Malawi’s state-sponsored rights group has hit out at recent comments by US pop diva Madonna, saying she was “putting it crudely” when she said the country had no adoption laws.

“She (Madonna) was putting it crudely. If we had no laws, how come she was asked to apply to the court to adopt a child? She used the same laws she is criticising to adopt David Banda,” Dorothy Nyasulu, chairperson of the state-sponsored Malawi Human Rights Commission, said yesterday.

Nyasulu was reacting after the pop star told a news conference at the Cannes film festival in France last week that there were no adoption laws in Malawi.

Saying she was “happy to be the guinea pig”, Madonna expressed hope that her full adoption of the African boy David, whose final verdict will be made on Wednesday, will make it easier for other people to adopt children in the impoverished country.

The commission, which gets its funding from the government, alongside the Human Rights Consultative Committee (HRCC), a coalition of 67 rights groups, are “friends of the courts” in a full review of an interim 18-month custody order granted to Madonna in 2006 to adopt David.

Maxwell Matewere, a spokesperson for the HRCC, earlier said his group expected Madonna to be subjected to “stringent regulations and procedures” in the full adoption of the toddler.

Critics have accused Madonna of using her wealth to fast-track the adoption process.

She has homes in the US and Britain and now it seems the Queen of Pop has a new land. Malawi is said to be making Madonna an honorary citizen in recognition for her work there.

As well as adopting her son David from the African country, the Four Minutes singer funds several orphanages in the land, feeding and educating thousands of youngsters. Caring Madonna is also setting up a girls’ school to help the underprivileged.

“We are proud as a country to be associated with such a megastar,” Billy Kaunda, Malawi’s deputy tourism and culture minister, was reported as saying.

“She will have freedom of all cities here. She won’t be bothered with issues like visas and other limitations.”

Earlier this week, Madonna’s documentary on Malawi, I Am Because We Are, premiered in Cannes to great acclaim.
