from New York Post’s Page Six :
Madonna is truly the master of media manipulation. “The supposed scandal about [her brother] Christopher Ciccone’s book is bull[bleep],” an insider told Page Six. “She actually ghost-wrote parts of it with him, the way Princess Diana helped Andrew Morton write his book on her. That’s why there’s nothing too devastating in Chris’s book. He’s mean to others, but not so much to his sister.” In addition, Madge, now frighteningly rail thin, exploited Alex Rodriguez. “She flirted with him and manipulated him,” our source declared. “She didn’t count on wife Cynthia leaving him and naming her in the divorce, though.” Madonna is using the buzz over her relationship with A-Rod to her benefit. “She’s ordered three A-Rod Yankee jerseys she’ll wear in the finale of her upcoming shows. All of this was created to sell tickets for her tour, which hasn’t been selling so well.” A rep for Madonna didn’t return calls.

The New York Post has been criticized since the beginning of Murdoch’s ownership for what many consider its lurid headlines, sensationalism, blatant advocacy, and conservative bias. In 1980, the Columbia Journalism Review asserted that “the New York Post is no longer merely a journalistic problem. It is a social problem – a force for evil.”
Perhaps the most serious allegation against the Post is that it is willing to contort its news coverage to suit the business needs of Murdoch, in particular that the paper has avoided reporting anything that is unflattering to the government of the People’s Republic of China. Murdoch has invested heavily in satellite television there and wants to maintain the favor of P.R. Chinese media regulators.[30]
Ian Spiegelman, a former reporter for the paper’s Page Six gossip column, said in a statement for a law suit against the paper that in 2001 he was ordered to kill an item on Page Six about a Chinese diplomat and a strip club because it would have “angered the Communist regime and endangered Murdoch
some of you guys said some true stuff about madonna,im 19 and im a HUGE fan of her, but,i think that she REALLY needs to come up with something that will get more attention from young ppl.most of my friends dont listen to madonna and what they think is cool about madonna is her previous movies like body of evidence or her sex book and stuff like that…and lets face it,madonna isnt on top of the gossips in the US,i think she’s gotta do something like what demi moore has done! getting married with a hot guy…if she had EVER tried to get close to JT i swear her hard candy would out sell all the other albums!…its not that she needs JT to help her out to sell her album its just that ppl like to see something happens and then they will be like: ok,lets buy this to see what she’s up to!
by the way, vote for madonna so she can win some MTV awards!
I’ve just read the book, which BTW was very entertaining and much better than I thought it would be. As much as I know of Madonna’s life, there were still surprises in the book. It’s not the total hatchet job some people think it is. However, I really don’t believe for a second that Madonna ‘ghost wrote’ the book with Chris.
What I meant to write is you WON’T find this crap on Mad Eyes, Drowned Madonna or Madonnalicious’ websites. They have class.
This is total BULLSHIT.
The NY Post is a shady, lying, piece of crap excuse for a newspaper. They might as well change the format and make it a tabloid.
Any any of you posters who believe this rubbish and have posted negative comments about Madonna are complete morons. And shame on this website for continuing to post negative (and obviously fake) BS on a supposed Madonna fan site. I’ll tell you one thing, you find this crap on Madeyes, or drownedmadonna or madonnalicious. THEY have class.
Just a couple of weeks ago, the New York Post had an article saying that Chris said bad things about her and that she was very upset and would never talk to him again. But now they claim she wrote the book with him?
The New York Post clearly can’t get their story straight. They will write anything to sell newspapers.
As far as ticket sales, they are doing good where she plays arenas. The only ones that aren’t sold out are the really huge football stadiums. I think it’s a mistake to play such big places. People don’t want to be that far away because in Madonna’s shows this is a lot going on with the dancers and you need to be able to see that. Stadiums are good for rock bands like the Stones where there’s nothing special to see, you just hear the hits. Stadiums are no good for a very visual artist like Madonna, who doesn’t just play the songs everybody knows.
totally agree with “Y”.
@Maggie
maybe u just shouldn
I think hard candy isn’t good. The reason is that she’s trying to be somebody she’s not. Also it’s about money, she took loads of money from her new company (livenation). I think she intentended to do an album like this so that her next will ‘REACH THE TOP’.
I STILL ADORE HER. :)
:)
:)
:)
Somehow I don’t think it’s the money she wants, it’s more the kudos of having banked the highest grossing tour in history by a female artist I hear its $250m she’s planning on breaking.
I just don’t get the dichotomy with her, on the one hand she studies Kabballah (so one would have thought it would keep her grounded) and then on the other hand there is the meglomaniac about her, constantly pushing but in an almost grandiose way that’s a bit off.
But I find that side also fasinating about her that she just doesn’t give up…
the ny post is nothing more than a gossip rag that throws in SOME real news. it’s about as reliable as the sun. i put no trust in the post giving me accurate information.
as far as ticket sales…well we are in a RECESSION! at least the US is. people can’t afford 354$ for a concert ticket at this point. THAT’S why there are tour dates that still aren’t sold out. because the ticket prices are outrageous. now if she wanted to sell out then ticket prices should be something a BIT more realistic. how many mansions does she need? how many hundreds of millions of dollars does she need?
she could sell the top tickets for 175$ and she’d sell out in record time. do 80 shows instead of 55 or 100 shows instead of 55 and she’d still make the money.
i’ve been a fan for over 25 years and i’ll continue to be one for the next 25 and beyond but realistically madonna isn’t aimed at the 18yo’s. it’s not the type of music the kiddies listen to…thank god. if madonna was rap then i’d have to deafen myself. HC is a HUGE “sell-out” to mainstream US radio and that sucks. she has the fanbase so she doesn’t need to do that. just stick to who and what she’s always been and sell a ticket at a REAL WORLD price.
I doubt that M has anything to do with the book, Hard Candy is the last album for Warner and they are peed BIG style so they haven’t wanted to promote it as promoting it would add $$$ to the next album for Livenation, so there would be no payback for their investment and the driver for strong ticket sales are usually the noise behind the release of an album and M hasn’t had any.
Also to sue CC would be a mistake that would just divert attention on him and court more media publicity about the book, that’s one trick that M knows about remember Pepsi, Justify my love, Sex book (the more action that was taken against these the more the sales rocketed).
I really think M is in a hard place right now… what do you do when you’ve been at the peak of your game for 3 decades and your about to turn 50?, not that age has anything to do with it, but there comes a point where the older you get you begin to disconnect from your audience unless your music grows with them, and I hate to say it, but I think that’s beginning to happen.
I still think M can get away with it as she is such a celebrity and her shows are spectacular but there will come a point where people will start to say yeah seen it all before….
She needs to start doing some serious music stuff instead of getting down with the kids and writing songs with lateral lyrics it’s just a bit desperate..
Well, I have to admit that I too believe that the director behind all these stories is M herself. When you think about it, what has she really done to promote “Hard Candy”?! Has she any done any less TV or performances when releasing an album? She did more TV for adopting David than she did for “Hard Candy”!
And when interviewed Christopher says some controversial stuff to sell the book about “back then”. But he says nothing bad about the present. “No, she won
This is so lame it’s actually very funny. Madonna’s tickets are selling more then well and she doesn’t need a publicity stunt to sell them. She is the best performer out there and everyone wants to see her live!
New York Post Page Six is full of garbage. The Tour, with the exception of a few dates, was already sold out. Madonna’s name was not mentioned in the Rodriguez divorce….and Alex Rodriguez was hardly “exploited” by Madonna….
hmm…?
what a load of bollocks
ah well…
You have to wonder…Christopher stands to make a lot of money and get his 15 minutes of fame. Madonna might also get a percentage of what he gets for the privilege of doing a book like this (as you read this, remember that I would die for this woman!).
Madonna may have gotten tired of everyone else doing unauthorized biographies about her, and getting rich off of it. Christopher is her brother…she had never consented to ANYONE doing her autobiography with her. Who else should do it but her brother?! Blood is still thicker than water; if I were a control freak like Madonna, this makes absolute sense.
Also, Madonna may be doing some things kind of interesting, because Hard Candy has a lot of tracks that sound bitter about Guy, including the song Ring My Bell, which is on the Japanese version of the album, with 4 songs in all directly aimed at the man in her life. One thing to note is that she also does a few songs about being extremely happy with someone, and feeling really sexy about it…Spanish Lesson is directed at a woman, not a man. Look in the Lyrics section above to see that she is singing shes loves a Senorita, a woman.
Just listen to Hard Candy again, open-mindedly. The lyrics to Ring My Bell are online if you look. She’s up to something interesting, I’m quite sure!
What the false reason New York Post report???
Just because ‘the way Princess Diana helped Andrew Morton write his book on her’?
Their logic is bullshit!
@Tim
I say it because I can.
Plus I’m not the only one.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge fan of Madonnas, plus I bought the book last week, but I, like many, believe that this is just a pure publicity stunt.
And regarding tickets, when I last saw her play at Wembley I was able to purchase a ticket from their own box office on the very last date she played there. And a good seat it was too.
Why didn’t Madonna (with all the money she has) go to the courts to halt the publication???????
totally 100% agree with jon’s post…xxx
WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP..dont believe it for 1 second..
Maggie!!! What the fuck?
How can u say this?
I just don
It’s not true because the tour was practically all sold out before all this A-Rod stuff and the book came out.
Have they read the book? It gives a pretty negative potrait of her.
If she did all this for publicity, why does she look so sick and unhappy in all the pictures recently.
God, I hate the New York Post. They are a bunch of homophobic liars in that paper!
Come on, how fake does that sound? “She’s ordered three A-Rod jersey’s…”, I call bullshit! The Post is barely better than a tabloid, everyone knows this.
As I said before in one of my previous comments, I knew this was a publicity stunt
What a load of CRAP !
