Guy Ritchie’s father has branded Madonna as “beastly” for her alleged concert jibes at his son following their divorce announcement.
The former couple confirmed on Wednesday they will divorce after almost eight years of marriage.
John Ritchie has spoken for the first time since the split and admitted it was “horrid” to read how the star appeared to call Ritchie an “emotional retard” during a concert on her Sticky & Sweet world tour in Boston, Massachusetts on Wednesday.
John Ritchie says, “She is being beastly, she is saying ‘Did you ever love me?’ It goes back to a time when she fell off her horse and she’s blaming him for that. She’s calling him an emotional retard. When he’s being bashed by her. It’s horrid.”
Ritchie claims his son was coping with the split by throwing himself into work.
He adds, “I haven’t spoken to Guy for a few days. He’s up to here with work.”

A few words to the wise. I’ve always been a fan. Such drive, such ambition, talent and energy to burn. BUT and it’s a big BUT…always remember it takes 2 to make a marriage and 2 to break it. While the impression I’ve always got of her soon-to-be ex-husband is that he’s arrogant and (perhaps) homophobic, we must all face the fact that she would be an extremely difficult person to live with. She’s incredibly driven and ambitious and the applause of the worshipful crowd is what she’s always craved. As occasionally fascinating as she is, she’s amassed some extraordinary achievements in this lifetime but the greatest of all is being a successful wife and mother. I remember when she was promoting RAY OF LIGHT (and Lourdes who she kept out of sight until she was ready to promote the CD), she told Vanity Fair she was “planning videos, doing photo shoots…interviews” and “trying to take care of my daughter”. I think she got it backwards…and I think she still does. Bravo for the rich deal she signed with LIVE NATION but the key word there is LIVE. Madonna won’t pull back for anyone, not even the most important people in her life…her own children. I guess that’s what makes her Madonna.

Hey guys, yes you are absolutely right, I though I was a fan, but I am no longer. I admire her hard work, but I do not like how she lives her personal life, or the impression I get of that from the tabloids. She inspires me to work hard, and to do what you want, but if you want to have a good family, she is not exactly my hero and that is not just because of this divorce but because of all the rest too. So good luck to all the fans!

Oh, sorry for the double post. I appologize for rambing and ending up with such a long post. But, I just couldn’t help it.
IF Guy wasn’t affectionate or caring enough when she fell from the horse that is not being a good husband. None of us will really know the whole and total true story of their marriage. And, we really shouldn’t. Private life should be as private as possible. But, divorces are always sad. Whether you like her or not.
It’s not very classy to kick someone when they are down in their personal life. There’s lots of people that love Madonna and there’s lots of people who don’t. It just isn’t nice to see a lot of posters on other message boards as well just pile on with nastiness. Don’t presume just because Madonna appears to be a strong woman that she isn’t hurting. All that most people know about her is from tabloids and press. And, some biased books. And, from biased opinions.
And she does have good close friends. One of which is Gwyneth Paltrow. Gwyneth herself said that Madonna helped her through depression. It’s just my opinion but I think Madonna (like many celebrities) has become very guarded emotionally. Because, the showbiz is such a nasty business at times…people always want to take advantage of you. Especially when you are rich and famous. It
happens all the time to athletes as well. Not just entertainers. It’s not always easy to tell when some is sincere. And, if one is burnt too many times then one becomes more and more guarded.
It’s sad that people want to brand Madonna as a bad woman. But, public perception is often very different from reality. There are also those celebrities that appear to be the nicest people and super extroverted. Yet, in private they are not like that at all. Some we may never know what “skeletons lie in their closet”.
So, you just never can tell. There are people who don’t want to show their true self or vulnerable self to the public. No one is perfect. And, I always get extremely weary of those that are highly judgemental of other people. That feels more like condescendense or sometimes jealousy.
Her professional life is a huge success. She’s such a hard worker. I respect that a lot. Too many celebrities are lazy and complacent. Too many “has-been” celebrities appear on reality tv shows. I doubt she would ever do such a thing. And, I hope she never does.
Madonna is still very popular. Just look at the success of her S&S concert tour. She is beloved by many people. Her concerts are always energetic and fantastic.
Again, it seems like there are people who just can’t wait to say bad things about her. That’s just sad.
Martha said that she is greedy. I say that Madonna is very ambitious and dedicated. The problem with a lot of younger stars nowadays. Is that they become too satisfied with their fame and lack the necessary ambition to increase their success. Instead many of them either fade, are more interested in partying or get into trouble. Even with athletes as many enjoy going to bars early in the morning and end up in trouble.
Anyways, you can never accuse Madonna of underachieving or resting on her laurels. I respect her drive for success a lot.
And, Martha you are obviously free to your opinion. I’m not interested in flaming. So, I’m not going to say anything mean about you. Just that I don’t quite agree with you.
