First Madonna was coming to Australia. And then she wasn’t coming. Now this morning on Channel Seven’s Sunrise Molly Meldrum confirmed that Madonna is infact bringing her Sticky And Sweet Tour to Australia after all, and it could be as early as January 2009.
According to Sunrise there are two promoters fighting over Madonna right now, and ticket prices are yet to be confirmed. It’s also unknown whether she will bring the entire stage and production elements of the Sticky And Sweet Tour, or if it will be a scaled back version of the show.
Media reported on the last round of negotiations, alleging that Madonna was offered “millions of dollars” to play two stadium gigs in Sydney and Melbourne. Whether the current offers will see her touring to more Australian cities remains to be seen.
Madonna hasn’t toured here since her Girlie Show in November 1993.

But on the other hand the production costs of a tour are something to be considered. If she includes just a few Australian and Asian dates, she can use her current production materials and team and make even more money. The best way to forget about a failed relationship is to keep working. I think Madonna really enjoys the love that she gets from her billions of fans across the world. I hear Australians know how to treat a queen.

I find it a bit hard to believe and I’m hoping she does come here. I mean why are the dates being announced this late into the tour? she has never added additional dates this far into a tour before, why would she start now? khosrow, I can understand not wanting to live somewhere where your views mean pretty much nothing. But when it’s just visiting, or in Madonna’s case, just touring, I would think it wouldn’t really matter. Especially for Madonna, she’d probably find it a great chance to spread her opinions.

No need to worry about Madonna, she is a tough woman and she actually gets her rest while she is working. Her definition of resting is very different than the rest of the world. Just listen to her song Heartbeat closely and you will see that she actually gets her escape and her rest on the dance floor.
