The princess of pop teamed up with the reigning queen last night, as Rihanna hosted an evening of charity and fashion, attended by Madonna.

Celebrating the Gucci Tattoo Heart Collection to benefit UNICEF, the singers, who have both been avid supporters of the charity collaboration, joined Gucci creative director Frida Giannini for a star-studded evening at New York’s Plaza Hotel.

Making her first post-divorce red carpet appearance, the Material Girl looked better than ever, exhibiting a look that was pure old-school Hollywood glamour, with glossy blonde curls and a scarlet pout.

Her style, however, divided opinions, with some arguing that her green-feathered dress was more akin to Astroturf, while others commended the star for her brave fashion choice.

Rihanna, meanwhile, wowed in a floor-length lilac gown, co-ordinating her make-up perfectly with deep violet eyes and pale pink lips.

They were joined by the hottest stars of US TV, including Gossip Girl’s Blake Lively and Penn Badgley, Ugly Betty’s Eric Mabius and Becki Newton, and Entourage’s Adrian Grenier.
