i think that ultimately madonna could care less if she’s ahead of celine, or vice-versa. madonna is just going to do what she’s got to do as an artist. at this point in the game, madonna is so firmly established as the pinnacle of success for a pop star/pop cultural icon, that so much else is really irrelevant now. let’s face it, madonna truly is the “elvis” of this generation(s). at the end of the day, that is what she’ll be remembered for. and poor celine will be rembered as that “french canadian lady whose song from “titanic” could bore a hole in your head, and for putting out albums that sound a notch above elevator music.”

In the last several weeks Celine Dion has added extra dates in her Taking Chances Tour because she knew that she couldn’t gross more than Madonna’s Sticky & Sweet 58 dates, despite having twice more shows scheduled (about 120 dates).
Celine Dion fans have been complaining on her forums that they have been tricked, they bought expensive tickets for her supposed final shows, but after that several more date have been added continuously. Don’t you get it, what Celine’s team did was to add those extra shoes so that they can make sure she overpasses Madonna’s SS Tour?
Celine’s tour was officially programmed to be over around 12 February (the same when her tour started, a year ago), but now it’s 26 February, because team Celine added more shows, realising that TCT couldn’t outgross Madonna’s SS Tour with only those dates, even though they were already twice more shows than Madonna’s 58 (around 120, now thay are 134 because of the last dates added in the last moment).
What Madonna and Live Nation should do is to quickly announce a 2nd part for her SS Tour early this year and put ticketes for sales. Madonna can easily sellout several stadiums in Australia, Asia, Eastern Europe (Turkey, Russia etc) and for instance easily add 50 million $ to her total so far (280 million $), from only 10 shows
It would be such a shame for her tour not to ramain the first tour for a solo artist, because there were only 58 dates in only 4 months, whereas Celine’s has 134 dates in more than a year (with the extra shows added in the last moment on purpose to outgross Madonna)!!! and even so it will be so close!!!
Madonna should stop directing stupid movies next year that nobody cares about, cancel all her side projects and concentrate on adding some extra dates to her SS Tour, she only needs 10-15 stadium shows (over 50 million $ in gross) that she could do in a month or so to maintain her record! I’m sure that’s what her fans want!!!!!

Madonna’s show is an artistically perfect act, combining so many different elements of music, acting, dancing and technology equipment, that cannot and should not be compared to another ” just a concert” kind of show.

She has created a different kind of music show, that is unique in its genre .

Both events are named as ” Tours” but they are completely different in fact. Think about it.
Madonna’s tour is a complex and artistically complicated show that combines different parts of art life. And she performs all of that together in one show. She is not just a singer, she is a multi- talented person who has set high standars in the music business starting from the days back in the 1980’s when she first appeared in the charts.
It’s just unfair for her to be categorized like all the other artists… She’s a different category herself!

Some dates are forgoten in the boxsore au Taking Chances Tour. Only the American & Europe dates are comptable. The rest is forgoten. She starts the tour on February 2008 in South-Africa and those shows are not in the boxscore list ! She grosses only $91 million to date with 43 dates .. Paris, Londres, Amsterdam, Bruxelles, Berlin, Helsinki, Copenhague, Shanghai, Kuala Lumpur, Nice, Vienna, Tokyo, Osaka, Seoul, Durban, Cape Town and more are forgotten in the boxscore list and those cities will be forgotten for ever because the revenue is to small and they don’t have acces to. Madonna and her Sticky & Sweet Tour IS the biggest tour by a solo artist all time. Taking Chances Tour will dont be completed with the precedent dates in the rest of world.

Madonna must add a second part of the tour early next year to keep Celine behind, she had just added more and more dates, TC will surpass SS Tour. It would be such a shame considering it will be very close and Madonna only did 58 shows whereas celine 134.
MAdonna should add an extra 10-15 shows next year in Australia, Russia, Japan to make sure her tour remains the best grossing ever for solo artist (plus with so few dates)
