Madonna’s ex Guy Ritchie spent a forlorn New Year’s Eve alone at his country mansion after the couple’s festive truce.
Guy, 40, hid away, shunning party invites from pals as he brooded over the couple’s failed marriage.
While superstar Madge, 50, saw in the New Year with their three kids in the Maldives, the movie maker was at Ashcombe House, Wilts, with just his housekeeper for company.
The couple – whose divorce was officially finalised in court yesterday – buried the hatchet to get together on Boxing Day for the sake of Lourdes, 12, Rocco, eight, and three-year-old David.
But worried pals claim Guy “hit the emotional buffers” afterwards and finally admitted how badly the marriage breakup has affected him. One friend told The People: “Guy was on a real downer over New Year and just wanted to be alone to think.
“He watched TV, had a few beers and then had an early night. He’s been quite bullish throughout the divorce and when out with the lads he gives the impression that he is relieved to be a free man again.
“But December 22 was their eighth wedding anniversary and Guy seemed to be feeling the split more than before. He and Madonna called a truce after Christmas and spent time together with the kids. He was surprised at how friendly and natural it felt. I suppose it got him wondering whether they could have handled things differently.”
Guy flies to New York today to work on his new movie Sherlock Holmes. The divorce decree was made absolute at London’s High Court.

I dont think we as true madonna fans should chat about her private life as we know NOTHING about it. The only thing I believe is what comes out of her mouth in the interviews she gives. The press make shit up all the time to sell papers, mags. We dont know the reason why they divorced and we as fans shouldn’t be discussing it like she is a best friend we know. Respect the queen and her privacy. Madonna is the most important musical figure in the history of popular music. Her talent, discipline, hard work continues to inspire me. I am sadden to hear of her second divorce but we can not analyse it as we dont know what goes on behind the red curtain.

I totally agree Chris. Madonna is not the type of person to hold grudges against ex-lovers and I don’t think she would appreciate people saying bad things about Guy. If he was so awful, she wouldn’t have been seen over Christmas with him. Let Guy live his own life and do his own thing. I don’t personally like his movies because they are too violent for me, but I wish him well.

The gold diggers are never satisfied with what is theirs. As far as I am concerned Guy is nothing more than a classic gold digger. Oh well, Madonna has already got over him. Madonna moves on and lives on. She doesn’t even need his dodgy accent. Madonna started to rule the world long before she moved to London. And she still rules it. Those who inherited their queen titles, never earned their titles. Madonna earnd it and still earns it year after year after year.

Guy was a successful director before he met Madonna – he didn’t need her money. If she wanted a strong man with a keen sense of humor, she got one. I’ve always liked Guy – I have a feeling that his views about Kabbalah got in the way of the marriage. Too bad that Madonna’s whole world revolves around that very thing. What a sad situation for all involved.

Madonna and her children really lost so much with the divorce. Her brother was right – her life revolves around her.
Her brother is bitter because she chose Jamie King to direct her tour and not Chris , the first 6 years of Madonna and Guy´s relationship , Madonna was the one who made most of the sacrifises. She left her life , home in NY and moved to London for Guy. She became this whole english lady of the manor to impress her man. So its obvious it was it never was about me me and just me. She changed alot this man which he failed to recognize. She went through hell during the summer when she made this decision to break up. Ofcourse it was not easy for her…even her brother Chris said, she is not the type of person who would just walk away from her marriage like that. She tried too hard but , she was the one who offered the most.

Oh please. Did you even read Christopher’s book? (I did) He is an egotistical, attention whore. He expected to be treated just like Madonna, because he helped her out by working for her. Then when he didn’t feel he was getting paid enough by her, started charging her a 40% markup for the stuff he was buying on her behalf. When she found out, she fired his ass and he’s been bitter ever since. He’s a useless loser, who’s only trying to use his sister’s name to make money, just to get even with her. (of course he SAYS he’s not). What a complete moron. So NO, her Brother was not right.

He needed to learn his lesson. Madonna offered way too much of herself to him and he was totally taking her for granted. I do hope later on they both get back together. They are so meant for one another.
