I really tried to make myself like this song, but after a bit, the song is a little dull. I don’t think Paul Okenfold is a great producer, but rather a ok DJ whom’s playlists seem outdated. This song was just filler to for Madonna to get something new out there and to promote her 3rd greatest hits package and finalization of her record contract with Warner Bros.
My personal opinion of course, but I think Madonna should take a little time off (1 year), eat a little bit, refresh her look and start recording with producers such as Rick Nowles, Patrick Leonard, William Orbit, and fire her manager Guy Oseary whom really has only done a good job with her tours, granted Live Nation should take more credit. I just hope she stays complete away from the R&B “hot” producers of the day.
Additionally, today the song dropped out of the Billboard Hot 100 today which I found a little disappointing. I would have deemed it at least a top 20 or even top 10 hit. At least the dance charts she will most likely hit the top spot for a few consecutive weeks. US airplay is completely at rock bottom and has seemed to blacklist her from any spins.
I feel like I need to see the video for “celebration” before I can make a true judgement. The song does sound a little dull, but I am thankfull to have the 4 minutes era behind us. It’s probably never going to be in my top 10 favorite Madonna songs of all time, but it’s not in my bottom 10 either, and it’s refreshing to have her do a new song without all the R & B sidekicks contributing to her music. I do like the fast dance beats and it does make you want to dance. I just wish the song would of not of been released before the music video. Good Luck Madonna, I hope this song is a top ten hit in the USA, Canada, and the rest of the world!

I like it, but I don’t love it. It’s fine as a one off for the Greatest Hits cd, but I wouldn’t want her to keep going in this direction. It does remind me of her earlier 80’s hits, but I don’t live in the past, I want something new and fresh. The song does have a nice melody and vocals but Paul’s production is boring and predictable.

To tell you the truth Celebration is the closest Ive heard to Madonna making a song that is a current version of her great 80’s dance hits.
For the last couple of albums people always says its the Madonna classic sound of her 80’s dance hit. But Ive never really heard that or felt that. Until now, this song is an instand classic dance hit old school Madonna style. Everything off Confessions was still to new and fresh to be real main stream. Hard Candy was not the classic Madonna dance sound. Celebration is, Im here to declare! Success July 2009. and Joe Ecko her co writer just became instantanously world famous, just like everything Madonna touches.

Because the new single, Celebration, leaked online yesterday radiostations in The Netherlands are allowed to play it. The official download for the Netherlands will be available later today through iTunes Netherlands.
UPDATE: Just one day after it’s radio/web release Celebration is getting rave reviews from radiostations in The Netherlands.
Radio538 – one of the greatest en most important stations over here – have labelled Celebration as their ‘Alarmschijf’ which means it is the most important and played record for next week. Listeners will hear Celebration almost every hour!

From now on Celebration will be one of those songs Madonna is known for. When she plays this at a concert it will be instantly recognized and the crowd will go wild.
Theirs no reason this song wont crack the top 40 in America that your all so proud of. Its a refreshing feel good pop song with light energy. This type of song is not at radio right now, radio is feeled with heavy deep dark beats.

Our verdict? It doesn’t break any new ground for the Queen of Pop, but it does do what a new track appended to a Greatest Hits album should do – it reminds you why you fell in love with the artist in the first place.
As expected, it’s a return to full-on dance-pop after Madonna’s swerve R&B-wards for Hard Candy. However, “Celebration” doesn’t take its cues from ’70s disco the way Confessions On A Dancefloor did. It’s got more of a ’90s dance sound, which makes sense considering that Paul Oakenfold is twiddling the knobs here.
To that end, “Celebration” features plenty of rippling beats, a generous smattering of “whooosh!” effects and a chorus that’s the very definition of “trancey” and “arms-in-the-air”. However, our favourite bit is the spoken word middle 8, in which Madonna drops a line that’s sure to provoke a few tsk-tsks from the Daily Mail brigade: “I guess I just didn’t recognise you with your clothes on.” Oh, fifty schmifty!
This aside, the lyrics are utterly perfunctory – she even re-uses her favourite word, the one beginning with “h” and ending in “esitation” – but it doesn’t matter.
“Celebration” is supposed to be feelgood party tune and it does its job very well indeed.

Okay… In an attempt at objectivity here, the song is serviceable. I have no doubts that this woman has no illusions about what this track is in the grand scheme of things. She’s on her last page with Warner. She throws together some new tracks that will make people dance in the summertime. She knows she hasn’t had a feel good danceathon song in a while. The theme of the album is clearly retrospection since it’s a freaking greatest hits album. Celebration sounds like a mixture of her earliest stuff and her most recently commercially successful material.
Can the woman be expected to do everything at once? She’s clearly still touring, wrapping things up in a nice little bow with yet another GH album for Warner Bros while satiating Live Nation’s desire to make a Tour workhorse.
I’m sure once Sticky/Sweet closes and she has that sit down talk with Powers That Be about the direction of the last chapter of her career, she will have time to play musically… To check the pulse of pop music and do what she does best… capitalize on a new sound right before it hits mainstream.
My major Madonna concern (which I’ve never had before actually) is that she has admitted that her image is a MAJOR part of her appeal/longevity. Her ROL period was so shocking/successful because her incarnation was a 180 from the Blonde Ambition, SEXBOOK vixen. MUSIC took her to a different place and American Life even gave her the room to play… But as she ages and the clear intervention of plastic surgery becomes more evident, I fear M risks becoming a real caricature… For so long she beat the critics and if she was having work done it was so minute that it seemed to blend with natural aging… Her shake was comely, impressive for a woman of any age who’d had two kids….
I say all this to say we have to give the woman a break. The fact that she still wants to share with us… flirt, tease, get us to dance, etc is a blessing.
When she is ready to hang it up, however, we will have to respect that and move on. she’s given us a helluva lot of good times musically, so don’t lose faith in the ol’ gal just yet.

hello, youve forgotten her whole point along the way, she looks great right now, shes getting more press exposure now since having any cosmetic procedures, in the good sense of getting press attention, sure theirs some negative ones, you see press clipings all the time of her, because she looks so good, sure you have the random are one but during the Confessions, editors werent showing her as much because she looked like she was aging, that happened after she fell off the horse, but first off everyone in the world is so used to seeing Madonna that it was just shocking to us all to notice the difference immediatelly. People will get used to her cheeks, I sure have, and I think they were a great move, looking at all the interviews and stuff shes done in the past year promoting Hard Candy she looks amazing, like a Super Madonna, her best look to date was the red carpet event for Filth & Wisdom in New York, when she wore all black and had the long crimped blonde hair and long black eyeliner, or at the premiere of the Guy Ritchie movie, One of the best looks of her career.
People will get used to the cheeks and she’ll be set for the next 20 years. You have to understand Madonna has been holding back the hands of time on her own for as long as possible, but shes the Pop Goddess and has to remain looking like one, she doesnt care what the witnesses of her life care about her choices, she dives right into adversity and controversy these days, Madonna is looking great, look at the fan photos on Madonnatribe, or Madonnalicious, Madonna looks fabulous pre airbrushed, thats the great thing about her procedures she doesnt require alot of edit time anymore. She comes equipped preairbrushed, and plus I think she likes the dramatic affect of her cheeks in photos, just like her idol Marlene Dietrich, so Madonna know exactly what she doing, plus she knows all the top dermatologists in New York

part of her inconography
i understand her vanity level is really high,
that she (like most prolific artists) is quite vain
but, i do think that she does what she does,
creatively / aesthetically / etc..for her own means
so i think those of us who genuinely appreciate
what Madonna has to put forth artistically and
personally, and what she hopefully will continue
to do, is going to have to be based on the work that
she produces, rather than the work that is done to
her face (if that makes any sense)

“Get Together”, it is the same lyrically, but the
music is quite different from the album version
this particular demo version of “Get Together”
was produced by Bloodshy & Avant, and although
it was recorded over 4 years ago, it sounds far
fresher in tone and sound than Madonna’s newest
single (Celebration)
i can’t say for certain, but i feel that Madonna has a
LOT more going on in her life, than she did have 15
years ago, so perhaps she is not as focused on creating
an entirely new sound for herself
i think Madonna’s “manager” has not given her the
best advice in the last 3 years, so she needs to
really dig deep, if she wants to break fresh ground
musically / creatively

studio demo of the song “Get Together”…
i think to have them work heavily with her on her

I’m a huge Madonna fan but I don’t like this song at all. It sounds like every other dance track out there – way too much synth – very Britney-like. Also, the intro sounds almost identical to her ‘What if Feels like for a Girl’ release from about 6 years ago! Where’s the ‘pushing the envelope’ Madonna that we all know and love?? There’s absolutely no originality here. At this point, the only thing that’s keeping her afloat in the music world is her concert performances.
