British songstress Natasha Bedingfield appeared on the Today show Friday morning to put her own spin on Madonna’s hit single “Ray of Light.”
She also performed Ray Of Light on BBC Radio One two years ago.

Natasha has a really beautiful voice! And i’m happy too, Cal, that she’s referred to madonna’s songwriting, which, unfortunately, many people ignore.
The vocals are okay, the arrangement is snooze-inducing, but her stage presence is horrible. She could never compete with Madonna there. I did like Natasha’s comment about Madonna’s songwriting. Classy move on her part.
Natasha Bedingfiled seems so sweet but she did seem awfully boring in that clip. Her look didn’t exactly scream “pop singer.” It seemed to say, “table for 2?” But I admire her courage in covering one of Madonna’s most popular and iconic songs. Yes, Madonna has butchered a few of her own songs but a riveting performance isn’t just about vocal quality…it’s about presence, charisma and energy. Madonna’s stage presence is peerless in those areas.

It’s not Madonna’s version (which could NEVER be beat), but it’s not that bad. I give her props for reinventing a Madonna tune. :)

BTW I agree M’s performance of ROL at the 98 VMA’s was way off key but she TOTALLY blew it out of the water at Live Earth.

you can look at her singing Power Of Goodbye at the VH1 Fashion
Awards in 1998, now THAT was a lack luster version of that song
or when she fumbled the lyrics for the song Fever at that stupid
Arsenio Hall benefit in 1992, and again on SNL in 1993

LOL!! Too funny, helpplease…and you’re so right. That was the one Madonna performance I had to switch off because it was so horrifically bad. Yoko Ono sounded good next to Madonna’s performance that night. But Madonna is still an amazing performer…she just forgot that she couldn’t sing!
