Rolling Stone is not playing with thier reviews…I think they Love Madonna…They know who she is….She’s the best of the best!!!
I like the way Rolling Stone perceives and reviews Madonna’s work. They do her work justice.
With the exception of that clumsy daily mirror or daily mail review, all the reviews for this album are good to great. But one thing that I don’t agree with some of the reviewers is the question “why was miles away included on this album?”.
Well, why shouldn’t it have be included? This collection is not about the chart position alone, but rather about covering, 25 years of great songs. Just because a song did not climb high on the charts, it does not mean that it was a bad song. Talk about hypocrisy of allowing the charts to dictate to us the consumption and appreciation of music.
Besides Madonna I listen to many other types of music. Most of the songs I like haven’t even appeared on any charts. Does that mean that they are of lesser quality?
I don’t like and therefore refuse to participate in “IN” things(never stand in line for a mega high budget hit film, never buy a record because of its chart position, never like the fashion that is considered to be ‘in’,,,,). When I was a teenager in the mid 80s, we I grew up with the culture of cerebrating things that were not in yet. They became in later. I miss the days when you would go to a club and hear a funky mix of Madonna’s ‘Everybody’ and Prince’s ‘Erotic city’ and buy the record when it wasn’t main stream pop yet. In those days, we dictated to the radios and we formed our own tastes. Nowadays, the radio bosses determine what one gets to hear as well as what appears on the charts. People look at the charts as if it was a holly bible. In the 80s, the charts were much more diverse and far more objective than now. Having a record and showing it off stood for something. Nowadays with all the different type of formats, legal and illegal downloads; the charts have become cloudy and as a result, they have lost most of their legitimacy.
I am glad that Madonna knows the market as well as her core audiences, keeps making great records and focuses on live shows. She has always made great club music and many of her audiences love her for it.
When is Madonna appearing on the cover of that magazine??
I think that was only a rumor
Crazypants!
Nice, thanks to Rolling Stone.
