“Celebration” may not get Madonna
that all important “American #1 single” -
but i do think that if she releases “Revolver” as a 2nd single…
Madonna just might find herself in heavy rotation
on American radio stations, as well as lots of club dance floors
with a little luck, even at the #1 spot on the Billboard Top 10
I agree…Revolver sounds more like an American Friendly song, like 4 minutes, so it may get a better chance to get played by radios, but then again, 4 minutes didn’t do great either on Radio, its success was based upon the over 2 million single sales…and to be honest, the Revolver snippet i heard at Germany Amazon was a little disappointing, specially because her voice sounded so weak and distant, like overwhelmed by the beats… …hopefully the final cut will sound much better…but i doubt it because it was an Amazon snippet, which generally means is like the final cut will sound like….oh well, at least it’s a great song and the girl hits the high notes…just wish her voice would sound more clear.
yeah,
Madonna has a lot to live up to in regards
to the RaVaugh edit of Revolver, the vocals
on that version are pretty strong
i do hope he remixes of the song at least
have a version that has Madonna singing
in a better more pronounced way
if not that, then if Madonna ever performs
that particular track live, i want her to sing
her heart out like she did at the 1997 Oscars
Great; Go UK, Go Madonna
don’t get too excited, she’s still a bit far from the overall top, #7 on uk itunes and the margin between her and Taio has incresead…a top 5 would be nice, knowing it’s not from a new album but a Collection one…:)
celebration is # 5 in Germany! the next hit for her in this country!
http://www.tweetmadonna.com/# madonna will ahve twitter soon
Celebration will probabaly slip on 2moro’s midweek chart. I just hope it doesn’t drop out of the top 5 entirely. I don’t know why it isn’t climbing on iTunes :( I predict this song will most likely peak at #6 or #7 on Sunday, oh well…
Come on madge, one more step!
Holding the faith here bk in the uk!
yeahh she is #1 in europe http://www.nielsenmusiccontrol.com/index_html
woohoo…one more number one!!…On Airplay though….at least it may assure her a top 5 in the overall, let’s see if sales increase as closer the release of Celebration the album gets…in some countries it’s just some days away…:)
Oh I forgot, the numbers below are from a Worldwide point of view, The Global Chart, not only one country statistics.
It is likely Celebration won’t score number one this week and not likely she will score a top 5 because digitally it’s not even top 10. I think she’ll probably end up having another top 10 and hopefully top 5. But she doesn’t have o go number one with every single she releases anyway. I think she’s done enough for this Decade, ending up being the most successful artist in terms of singles, leading the following categories:
* Artist with most # 1: 9
* Artist with more cumulative weeks at # 1: 67 weeks
* Artist with more songs in the Year end Charts Top 40 2000-2009 : 12
* Artist with more songs in the Year end Charts Top 10 2000-2009 : 6
* Only 2 artists have had back to back # 1’s: Madonna(Hung up, Sorry) and The Black Eyed Peas(Boom boom pow and I gotta feeling). Madonna has a cumulative of 23 consecutive weeks atnumber one with both songs and The black eye peas have 17 weeks so far, maybe they can tie and surpass Madonna in this if i gotta feeling stays at # 1 for another 6 and 7 weeks…but not likely to happen.
I don’t think Celebration may add much to these numbers other than another year end top 40…and Revolver less, because it will come late in this decade, unless it becomes a huge hit, which i don’t think it’s likely to happen.
This is the run of her # 1’s in the decade:
American pie: # 1: 8 weeks
Music: # 1 : 12 weeks
Don’t tell me: #1: 2 weeks
Die another day: # 1 : 4 weeks
American life: # 1 : 4 weeks
Me against the Music(with britney): # 1 : 4 weeks
Hung Up: # 1 : 15 weeks
Sorry: # 7 weeks
4 minutes: # 1 : 11 weeks
In terms of album sales in the decade madonna may end up 6 or 5 depending on how much Celebration sells, her current place is number 7 with around 37 million copies but surely will end up being top 10. She’s one out of 4 veterans within the top 10: U2,Michael Jackson and the Beatles.
