Michael Jackson. [Cheers] I have a little bit more to say than that. OK, here we go again. Michael Jackson was born in August 1958. So was I. Michael Jackson grew up in the suburbs of the midwest. So did I. When Michael Jackson was six, he became a superstar, and was perhaps the world’s most beloved child. When I was six, my mother died. I think he got the shorter end of the stick. I never had a mother, but he never had a childhood. And when you never get to have something, you become obsessed by it.
I spent my childhood searching for my mother figures. Sometimes I was successful, but how do you recreate your childhood when you are under the magnifying glass of the world. Read the whole speech at RollingStone.com

Spledid speach! :)
SpleNdid….
Here’s one thing you can’t take away from M – she’s one of the most articulate and gifted speakers, which is why her ballads sound so good. Great speech.
I still say she blew MJ.
P Diddy had very precisely described the genius of Michael Jackson: “He showed that you can actually see the beat. He made the music come to life. He made me believe in magic.”
Here I’ve tried to collect all notable tributes paid to Michael Jackson by peers:

Madonna had another one of her show stopping performances. but this time in a professional and respecable way. not like them omg moments in the past. she got me and alot of people in tears with that speech. it moved me. i hope this is one of them iconic moments in history of one of the best speeches of all time. in my opinion i rank this up there with the martin luther king jr’s with “i had a dream” speech.
you overreacting …it was a good speech ,nothing more…
Well, then you’re a moron.
i’m glad Madonna had ZERO mention
or interaction with Janet Jackoff…
who’s “performance” unlike Madonna’s
well delivered speech about Michael Jackson..
was a contrived mess
(almost as bad as Lady GaGa’s performance)
ah well…
Madonna rules – -
everyone else…not so much
justin was right…in 2006 after the ‘hung up’ performance he said “madonna performing on stage make us all look like amateurs”.
Exactly. I mean what is it about this woman that makes other performers look not so great?
Brilliant! One of the best speeches by a celeb ever.
She looks beautiful and here outfit is great;O)
and my too;O)
what a speech! “but i had a childhood” very brave of her to say that in front of his monster father.
i thought the same thing
madonna is now the KING! i love her. no one else will take her place as the new king!
madonna is not now the king! she was always the queen!
Σαγαπάμε!Είσαι θεα!
A great and fitting speech. A fitting, real and heart full tribute from the queen to the king.
Madonna’s words are bible. They are as beautiful as her face.
Blablabla Madonna…
Nice hair and dress and her face looks pretty.
ONE OF MADONNAS FINEST MOMENTS!
What a sweet and real speech. She didn’t sugar-coat anything and, as everyone noticed, she looked AMAZING! Perfect profile and just gorgeous.
wow i just got crazy to see her, she is fantastic
You’ve got to love her. Only Madge could take someone else’s memorial and make 50% of it about her and still get away with it LOL
In the process upstaging poor Janet. Who do you think will get the most airtime
in news stories around the world tonight??
tyleraust..why so negative, could you not hear her compassion, could you not sense she was trying to make a point…GOD, give the woman a break..you are so ready to jump on her…stop spreading hate
Madonna didn’t upstage Janet. Each one did her own special tribute to MJ. Why do you have turn something so sincere into a negative?
That last shot of her–the profile–is gorgeous. And it was a lovely remembrance of M.J.

Damn she got me again…i love this woman and her speech was truly emotional, from one megastar to another…long live the the king….and QUEEN OF POP! :)
Fantastic speech!!! and she looks absolutely fabulous! :D
she was absolutely amazing!!!!!!!!!! so brave, raw, and touching. I am in tears.
My heart stopped right when I saw Madonna (LLLL)
amazing…honest…really great
amazing!she looks stunning!
