I really don’t know why some complain about Hard Candy SOOOO much.
Maybe it’s just my opinion, but it really isn’t a bad album. For the past few years, Madonna had been doing electronica music, and an urban-feel from Hard Candy was something “fresh” from her.
It wasn’t new or anything, but it was something new to hear from Madonna. Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoyed Ray of Light, Music, and Confessions…but from 2000 up to 2005, it was just all electronica. It was all Mirwais or Stuart Price. As much as we all don’t really enjoy Timbaland or Pharell’s type of music, it was something different to hear from Madonna.
Plus, if you really listen to Hard Candy again, probably the only song that sorta “lost” Madonna was 4 Minutes, but eventually it grew on me. Give it 2 Me is something totally unexpected from Pharell. Who knew Madonna would still have her name and voice written all over a song produced by a rapper?
As for Revolver, I knew, from the minute that I saw Lil Wayne helped produce this, that all fans who disliked Hard Candy would just all go negative about this. I respect all your opinions. I am not saying you are wrong, but come on, the song really isn’t as bad as let’s say, Obsessed by Mariah, or that Padron (or Patron) Tequila song. It’s catchy, and it’s urban, and whether we’ve forgotten or not, Madonna made a name through American urban music. Yes with a touch of Euro music, but isn’t that why even Hard Candy had some European feel to it? Like Give it 2 Me?

Hard Candy was about a woman, pointedly preparing to get over an imminent divorce. Confession album reminded her and us of her love of NY, Hard Candy took her back to NY and her funky club roots. Contrary to what some people say, hard candy was not a hip-hop album but a funk album.Despite the lack of promotion, it has sold around 5 million copies. It gave Madonna two international hits.

“Revolver” is a bit disappointing. Having heard the RaVaughn demo before hand I just can’t see this as a “Madonna” song. It seems more like Madonna covering another persons song. This is okay, but just not Madonna’s song. Its not her lyrics or her creative input. It seems like she went into the studio laid down her vocals and was out the door in 10mins to go fool around with her boytoy Jesus. Very disappointing that it doesn’t have her take or stamp on the song.

And yes UNIVERSE. When was the last time Mariah or Whitney had a top 10 song in the world chart? When was the last time anyone bothered to criticize them? Mariah or Whitney were not relevant enough to be criticized. However, when Madonna releases a record the knives are all out before the song is even released. The joy in Madonna’s music as well as the sublime is what makes the fans love her more and at the same time the haters hate her more. We do not care about the haters opinions. The hate devils are never going to change.
Celebration is the greatest feel good song since Hung UP and Beat Goes on. And it is very fitting one too because looking at the tracks on Madonna’s upcoming Ultimate Collection and the art work on the cover it gives us every reason to celebrate her Madjesty’s cultural and universal reign.
I have never bothered to go on Whitney’s site because I have always found her boring and overrated. But, what I find amazing, is the fact that too many haters still are interested in what Madonna does and bother to scrutinize everything that she does. That all goes to show you that Madonna has not lost her touch one bit.

Hard Candy was like Timbaland and Justin just recovered their past files from their Recycle Bin,
the ones they didn’t use for Britney, Nelly Furtado and thoses ones.
Now, there were some catchy tunes though, but JUST the singles, besides, it was just like… IS THIS MADONNA??
She always changes but, she used to do changes such as: from “Like A Virgin” to “Like A Prayer”, from “Erotica” to “Ray Of Light”; from “American Life” to “Confessions…”
and she WAS great… She still is, I know it but,
I don’t know what’s going on around her mind.
“Celebration” is respectable, and Benny Bennassi’s mix is great for clubs but… “REVOLVER” is ready to get completely shot since its very first 30 second preview.

i can honestly say, Hardy Candy,
the album as a whole, i wasn’t really impressed
with, nor was i really impressed with the videos
that accompanied this album
however, there are some pretty good tracks
ie; Incredible / Miles Away / Heartbeat / Candy Shop
She’s Not Me / Voices / Beat Goes On / Give It 2 Me
Devil Wouldn’t Recognize You
then, there are some real lack luster tracks – -
ie; Dance 2night / Spanish Lessons / Ring My Bell
so, as a complete album, i feel it lacks the overall
appeal to be a “great” Madonna full length studio
album, but there are some gems on that album
i am very much looking forward to hearing
her next studio album from Live Nation
i hope she works with some new Euro based
producers, and makes a harder, more modern
sound for her next musical endeavor
something deeper in tone, and a bit more
profound than selling candy and language lessons

I hope she works with a totally different producer. William Orbit, Shep Pettibone, Babyface, Mirwais and Pat Leonard are unique producers. While Timbaland are not on their league, Madonna should explore other producers. i cant wait for her new sound.
