The S & S tour was broadcast in the Netherlands over the weekend. I don’t watch TV that often but she once again proved to me that she is the ultimate live performer. Candy Shop, Beat goes on, La Isla Bonita and 4 Minutes and into the grove were so much fun and class.
I think MJ didn’t have it anymore. He really couldn’t go on such a concert schedule without depending on drugs. Ultimately he decided to check out and leave his fans out in the cold guessing about what he may have been again and thinking about what he used to be.
But at 51 Madonna went on a tour giving her fans everything they expected and more. She did not disappoint and proved once again that she is worthy of her crown. Madonna gave us three decades of solid songs, solid performances, great versatile voice, and great example of hard work, discipline and stamina.
How many artist did all of that? Only Madonna
Under different covers and alliances, the haters can say all they want about the mix and the songs that they wished to have seen included on this set, but those people always find something to complain about. I had almost all the songs on this album, but I still went out and buy it because, it is a true post modern art history. It has two magnificent new songs and equally magnificent artwork on the cover. Nobody ever has nor could they ever put out 36 magnificent songs on one set.
Only Madonna.
sticky and sweet tour was one of the most definitive madonna shows yet. it captured what she’s all about perfectly, without swaying too much into the showgirl element or too much into the performance artist element. it was a good balance. it wasn’t a revolutionary work of art like blond ambition, drowned world tour or reinvention tour were but it was definitely a step up from the largely dull and uneventful confessions tour. and madonna dance more than ever, which i was happy about. the costumes could have been better tho.
I have enjoyed all of the Madonna’s live until now. They all have been different in concept, context and presentation. I think since you cannot compare anybody else to Madonna, you decided to compare Madonna to herself.

This collectors’ CD, will continue to sell well long after the rest end up in the dustbin of history. These songs made the greatest all around song and dance performance artist ever.
The real this is it= Madonna’s Celebration Collection.
Other didn’t live to reach this high. Madonna has despite everything. Madonna and her work = fascinating.
In fact, she could have been number one for 3 weeks..the difference between number one and two the last 2 weeks is so narrow!
But more important, she stays more than ever at the top.
The numbers of CD sold shows also that the record industry is almost died.
That’s the reason Madonna made a contract with live nation, the money comes from the concerts now and not from CD’s.. and Madonna Is the king/queen of live shows.. no one makes money like her.
I hope we all get free downloads from live nation soon.

Why is everyone so obsessed with Madonna’s chart status? Her success transcends things like chart position and radio play. I love Madonna the performer but I’m simply being objective when I say that extraneous things don’t ultimately matter because she really is number one. Period. She has proven time and again that no one can beat her in the totality of her work (”Give me a record…and I’ll break it”). I admit I didn’t buy “Celebration” because I already have all of those songs but I’ll be ready to get her next original release!

Yes, I agree with you. I mean, she’s already proven to be the most transcendental female Pop/Rock music artist ever, and no one will ever shade that, even when she has 6 US number ones less than Madonna, even when Celine, Whitney and Mariah have 8 or 230 octaves of range…lol…Madonna has placed herself up there where only a few have reached. Elvis didn’t need to have a Pavarotti voice, neither did Michael Jackson; and the Beatles didn’t need to be the best Musicians to accomplish such level of Stardom. It’s true that Charts and Single and Album sales have always been some kind of barometer of music success and relevance,there’s always something more to it: Tours, Social-Cultural impact,Guts,Intelligence and the ambition to conquer the world…lol…However, the funny thing is that anyway, Madonna has always been on top of Charts, just like she is now in the world chart with a Greatest Hits album!!, which nowadays is so old fashioned…lol…some may say: oh but Barbra is older and she’s number 1 not only in the US but now in the UK!!!…but she’s out with a new Studio album…yes it’s true that it’s old songs from the 50’s, 60’s etc but since she never sang them before, it’s new in some way…in any case, Barbra’s Global sales round the 300k mark whereas Madonna’s round 600k :)
i didn’t buy celebration album either. i can’t take a madonna collection seriously without “deeper and deeper” on it. i just… can’t. waste of money. i did buy the dvd tho and i regret it. it’s as cheap as it looks.

You didn’t buy the CD because of 1 song? What about the other 34-37 songs that ARE on there? It just states how massive her success is when she could’ve easily filled 3CDs worth of hits.

come on madge, you’ll be in top 10 for ages, really hope you get back to no.1. suprised Streisand is on the top spot, without much british promotion either.
