I don’t think Madonna’s sole focus is money – it’s power and prestige and, obiously, money brings both of those things. It’s also a reflection of her relevance in the music/entertainment world and that’s clearly important to her. Besides, who could blame her for getting the most of everything that she can? As remidelino said, Madonna works very hard for her money and earns every cent, so I say go for it. BUT, I do wish she’d do some mainstream promotion of her new CD….something like Oprah where we can hear an in-depth interview.
Very well said. People are always counting her out, but her having the biggest tour of all time for a solo artist more than 27 years into the game just goes to show people her, power, draw, and her relevance and it puts her on the charts.

repeating the same tour (that has no substance or message) two times in a row is very transparent
well, she did hafta fork over nearly 75 million dollars to gangsta-wannabe guy ritchie, so i understand her desire to re-gain the money. and people can call madonna “money hungry” all they want, but one this is undeniable: madonna WORKS FUCKING HARD for every cent she gets. this isn’t a woman making easy money; she EARNS it. still… she needs to get creative again with her work. i’m willing to forgive Hard Candy’s lack of creativity solely because i chalk it up to her wanting to end her contract with WBR quickly… but another album of this sort, and i’ll stop buying her shit altogether.

Hi remidelino, I agree with some of the things you said here, but as far as Hard Candy goes, I disagree with you. You really should listen closer to that Album. You may or may not end up liking it, but besides that, you will see that it is a part of Madonna’s growth and change of mood, part of process. It is okay not to like every single record from the same artist, but if you look close, enough you will see that every work contributes to the next step/ contributes to the whole picture and in that sense nothing really fails.
actually, i’m extremely familiar with hard candy, i really LIKE that album and i listen to it a lot. no need to lecture me on any of madonna’s work. i’m extremely familiar with all of it. about hard candy… the songs are well-written and the lyrics are some of her most accomplished so far, but the music production is dated and uninspired and lack any kind of artistic value, unlike her previous 11 studio albums. “give it 2 me” is the only song on the album that features madonna’s trademark knack for progressive music production. the rest of the album doesn’t. as i said… if she makes one more album of this sort, i will no longer support her work. i want the revolutionary pop artist that madonna is back!

materialchick, was that directed towards me? if so… i don’t “like” madonna, i LOOOVE madonna… and THAT is why i CANNOT accept anything less than the best from her, cause i know that she’s capable of so much more than the lackluster music production on hard candy. she can do so much better. but if she doesn’t, then i’m not gonna spend my hard earned money on anything less than her best. i love her, but not blindly.
Blame that on the Capitalism. Unfortunately, everybody is judged by how much money he or she earns and not by what they have to say and how they say it.
The world is a contradictory place. I am glad that Madonna knows that and she is milking it for all of its worth. If one wants to know what Madonna the artist has to say, just listen to the songs on her albums that were not released as singles. Listen to Nothing fails, Paradise not for me, Swim, Devil wouldn’t recognize you and also Nothing really matters.

i agree. in the 80s madonna was a singles artist; her best songs really were her singles. but with the like a prayer album she became an ALBUM artist. and since then most of her best songs, her most accomplished pieces are not her singles, tho of course, she’s had brilliant singles in the 90s and new millennium.
i’ve never heard of this show and it upsets me that madonna’s people don’t get her proper promotion. freddy demann had madonna ON TOP OF EVERYTHING, he got her THE BEST exposure, THE BEST deals… guy oseasy is a shady, self-serving piece of shit. MADONNA, PLEASE GET PROPER MANAGEMENT!
I actually agree with this. I think Guy is her worst manager. It’s like he’s managing some D-list artist instead of the biggest female icon of all time.
This radio station is even making her seem like she’s a runner up from some poll, not a headliner.
