Its so great and refreshing to see someone like Madonna use her wealthy and fame to help those who are less fortunate than herself. If only there were more celebs like her, i’m sure change would ocur even faster in such poorer countries like Africa. I’m gonna donate as much as i can to support the woman i look up to the most and help the under priviledged!
In Rupert Everett’s autobiography he recounts how he asked for donations from many celebrities to help the starving in Africa while he worked as a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF. He goes on to say that many ignored his pleas, while others gave the bare minimum and along with Elton John, Madonna gave the most. People like Michael Jackson and Mariah Carey make a big deal of their charitable deeds and give ONLY for the publicity it generates, while Madonna gives through genuine concern.

Every good deed counts, every contribution counts, when and where and how you can.
This is not about who wants to be the biggest diva. This is about doing what is necessary to do in order to help. So lets do our part too.
I know there are a lot of well off professionals as well as hard working folks with big hears among Madonna fans. I am sure many roll up their sleeves and give a helping hand when and where they can. It is not obligatory, but it is a nice thing and a necessary thing to do.

the tour money went not only to madonna but to her crew too. i think that she gives really a lot of money, but this is a huge project, so some help would be welcome.
Not even Madonna and her gold card can change the world overnight and she would be the first to admit that. Miracles do not always happen in a clap of the hands. It takes time, effort and contributing parties. Contribution can be in all kinds of forms such as, teaching, putting skills to good use, money, big or small depending on what you can give and what your heart and mind tells finds appropriate, it can be medicine or materials things such as tools and basic agricultural or industrial machines.
The important thing here is indeed community improvement and sustainability. Step by step, from bottom up(grass roots approach). Good deeds are often not easy to do, but they are worth doing in.
That is my definition of a true Queen. A woman who worked hard to achieve her dreams and when she did achieve her dreams, she began helping others to do the same.
I am going to make a little contribution of my own.

Raising Malawi is more than great idea and i truly want to support it in any possible way i can BUT i do not like the fact of Kabbalah being involved in it. Actually i would`t mind its just Madonna should explain and make it more clear what Kabbalah position stands for in RM project.

You`re right wacko i don`t know that much about Kabbalah but it doesn`t mean i judge Kabbalah. I just think that its not purely Madonnas thing all this about RM. If there is Kabbalah involved maybe we should be informed as well. I feel they are hiding Kabbalah involvement for unknown reasons. And maybe Kabbalah is the main key of RM project, so why not to be acknowledged about Kabbalah contribution…

Uhhh….Hrmmm…Well IF you truly knew anything about RM, then you would know that Madonna is not the only founder of this charity. Her partner in this, is none other than Michael Berg. Who is Rabbi Peter Berg or The Rav(the founder of The Kabbalah Center) son.
I dont think they hide the Kabbalah involvement. In Im going to tell you a secret Madonna has a speech where she talks about how they teach Kabbalah in the Spirituality for kids foundation which is behind the schooling in Malawi.

the thing is that no matter how rich anybody is specially her, the issue here is sustainability… and it takes a while to come. so in the meantime this is the better way to get cash: self promotion or whatever people call it… it’s only managing her assets and it’s ok. believe it or not, she can be ric to have this supernatural life, she and her family, but not what it takes to develop a project involving so much time in the future and so many people.. we’re talking about a whole country and it’s not like helping the charity foundation around the corner… just the estimated value of her fortune wouldn’t last six months, that’s why she’s doing this. it’s not about how charitable she is (that’d be stupid)… it’s about generating something sustainable and it’s not covered by this range of transactions, it demands much more.
Oh please Madge. You have the money and the resources. Ask your millionaire and billionaire friends. Am sure you could build palaces in Malawi with the fortune that you have. Especially since you have merged with Kabbalah. Although I am empathetic with your cause and I do believe that you are helping, I don’t buy your bull anymore. You have to try harder. Another way for you to get money from your fans. Believe me. there are a lot of people out there that help everyday in anyway they can – all over the world – that includes me – need to say no more or brag about it. This is more about building a real foundation, a charity that will be around for a long time and accomplish great things, so you want to get the globe involved as quickly as possible, plus you want the name Raising Malawi to become more familiar to people, so shes getting people involved, If Madonna wants to eventually take her school global theirs alot of work to be done

I admire her work, but to be truly charitable, you do good in silence and one is not going around boasting how good you do. otherwise it seems more like self-promotion. I agree, she should do a bit more than donating 100.000 (!) and building one school!
That doesn’t mean that’s all she’s donated so far! She’s already raised more than 1/2 of the $15 million and she’s built more than one school. Look at the site under the “Progress” section and you will see all they have done. This is going to be a large-scale school, like a university with dorms, to train girls in science and mathematics.

I like the slogan: For every dollars you give, Madonna will match. It’s wonderful how she gets people involved. It’s easy to give away money but doing that alone is too short. Now, getting people involved and be part of it it’s more human and gives the chance to people to do their share as well. And how come people say she should just pay for it all and done? I feel upset when people go pointing on that and make it look as she’s being petty or fake. There’s no limits for those detractors who go relying on anything to go saying something shitty about her, just for the sake of it. What she’s doing is remarkable from any side u look at it, and i wish other stars would go doing so, but then again, i know not many stars have Madonna’s levels of relevance and stardom, and that even for them to just give away one million dollars is just too much and should be praised rather than dissed.
Go on beautiful woman, and i hope those girls have a chance of changing their lives, it may not be enough to change Africa’s situation, but it’s a light in the dark.

The cynicism on here is sad. Regardless of what anyone thinks of Madonna, what she’s doing can only be seen as admirable and honorable. I’ve never thought she was a very kind person in general, but improving the lives of orphans and ultimately an entire country that would otherwise be completely forgotten is amazing and an outstanding use of her fame and influence. For those of you who think she should pay for everything herself, you really need to wake up. I’ve read that she has given millions (MILLIONS) of her own money to this cause and she’s also matching each donation. Incredible! And so what if the shools will educate about Kaballah? There is nothing wrong with it, as it only seeks to improve people’s lives. Madonna could very easily rest on her laurels and not lift a finger or spend a dollar to help others but she’s doing what matters most: giving people the opportunity to live full lives. It’s human nature to find easy criticism but there’s absolutely nothing to criticize here. It’s all good.

hey pat, no i can’t say i’m helping out malawi, but i do help in my neighborhood, i often take moments and clean entire streets of litter and broken glass, i donate clothing to goodwill, i do see homeless people and buy them food and something to drink..i also help a young man who came to this country from el salvador with nothing but a small bag, no clothes ,literally nothing to his name..so i went shopping for him and got him clothing , hygene products and assisted him in getting a job…so i do my part…
