Nope, it’s done quite well. Not even Janet who is riding on her brother’s coattails is going to match Madonna’s 1st week sales for the GH album and Britney’s GH album tanked miserably. Only Madonna was able to do extremely with a GH album in a time where you can just download individual songs and GH don’t really sell. Plus Madonna had virtually no promo, unlike her counterparts.

There is only one way to describe a woman who has consistently delivered the goods, can afford to put out a double disc 36 songs collection out, has topped the world charts several times and still going strong even though the recording industry is not what it used to be. I mean Beat Goes on became a hit without even being released on as a single.

I love Mariah as a great singer & songwriter but I really don’t see her as an ‘artist.’ In my opinion, Madonna is a true artist. Her work and charistmatic personality have touched and inspired millions of fans for many, many years. She just has that intangible quality that touches people. It might be called charisma, charm, energy, but she’s got it. I do love Mariah but, with a few exceptions, her work remains a little jeuvanile and uninspiring. Just my opinion.
Mariah is just a commercial product rehashing the same album over and over- she’s far from ever being an artist. All she is about is numbers.
This is well on its way to become another multimillion seller.
The so called all new material albums that were released on or around the same week are all falling fast. There is a small trace of boring Whitney and Mariah is nowhere to be found. Obviously more and more people are realizing that the choirgirls had nothing new at all. Although all of Madonna’s studio albums are still selling as I am typing this message, celebration is a well-packaged collection CD that makes a great gift idea with which people who are just beginning to get into Madonna can hear a large chunk of Madonna greats. This package will end up selling at least twice as many copies of the two million that have already been shipped.
