I really don’t think it is a bomb here. It is just the way the music industry is here. Which plain out sucks!
If I like something, I like it, and no damn chart that is run by teenybopper acts and wannabe’s is gonna dictate to me what I should like and not like, or what is popular or not. Screw that.
She is doing fine. She realizes the album industry is changing, is nowhere near what it was when she first came out.
#47 is not that bad, considering the way this country is. =]
music industry its near to colapse!!!
ONLY THE BEST IT WILL SURVIVE
madge 4 ever!
Career in the US is Over? Not by a long shot.
1- A third of the her S&S record-breaking concert tickets were sold in the USA alone. That is very recent and for that matter in a country in deep recession.
2- Her last studio album Hard Candy went to number 1 in the US, has so far sold around a million copies. Not to mention it became the third biggest selling album of last year worldwide. It generated a multimillion selling single in the US, and in total three dance number ones.
3- Her latest collection CD made it into top 10 and is still on the charts. It has sold relatively very well considering the fact that it is not an album of all new material, and with Christmas coming up it will sell even more copies. Besides, this album has legs. It is going to continue to sell whichever you look at it.
Compare that with the careers of other artist (wannabee divas):
1- The new acts are way underperforming compare to any other time in the music history.
2- The older acts like Withney have to take long breaks before they release anything in order to generate the same kind of numbers as Madonna has with her last studio album.
3- Mariah’s latest so called “hit?” remains virtually unknown across the universe. Her previous ones are not remembered either. Her latest so called all new album offers practically nothing new at all. She had to cancel her tour because she could not even sellout the town halls.
‘Celebration is a collector’s collection CD. It is a must have for fans and any other music lover who wants to own a piece of music history. This collection album is not like today’s flash in the pan albums like many of Mariah’s recordings have been. Celebration is in for the long run and not just a short sprint.
Regardless of little airplay, judging from all the above, Madonna remains an American institution who does great everywhere across the board. Madonna is an American Dream, by which other artist will always be measured. America is a diverse country, that has assimilated many races and cultures and its economy is much interconnected with the rest of the world. Madonna’s career resembles that too. America and Madonna are far from over.
Madonna is a universal cultural phenomenon.
AMEN-
U RE SO RIGHT!!!!!!!!!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WE BETTER ASK Guy VIA TWITTER ABOUT THIS. REVOLVER IS SUCH A HIPHOP, DANCE-ORIENTED HIT IN THE MAKING. WARNER BETTER GIVE MADONNA THE LAST BIG PROMOTIONAL EFFORT SHE DESERVES!
Ouch! is falling everywhere! i bet this post will make 100 replies !!! the haters will feel reaffirmed in their hatred…lol…never mind, the album is around 900,000 worldwide so far and will pass the million mark for sure…I feared it would not accomplish that but i’m glad to have been proven wrong…my question is…will Mariah and Shakira reach the million mark with their lattest albums? So far Mariah’s sales are around 400,000 worldwide…with a single “hit” as “Obsessed” with over 1 million digital downloads in the US and Shakira’s album sales is just 120,000 with “She wolf” which reached number 2 in the Global Chart, however the lattest hasn’t released her album in the US yet…
Looking at their numbers I Celebrate “Celebration’s” figures :)
Madonna #1 in our hearts and farts.
I’m from the US and I really don’t care how the cd is doing here. It’s done VERY well internationally and it’s a greatest hits cd, not a studio album. I think that the fact that it debuted in the top 10 for the US, with zero advertising does not make the album a bomb. Her career in the US is over, and I accept that, but that does not mean that she is not talented, nor does it mean that her current music is not good-the US has been in a bubble for the W years and we are now BEHIND the rest of the world. I have utmost respect for her and NOBODY will ever have a career like M.
bullcrap..u know it drives her crazy that her homeland has turned their back on her.
Gabriella,
If you read what I wrote I clearly stated that it doesn’t bother ME that the US has turned it’s back on her. I never stated anything about how SHE feels about it. Also, I have noticed that the majority of people who write on here, whether they be European or Latin American, seem to think that ALL Americans think and feel the same way. Let’s remember that 1/2 of America did NOT vote for George W. Bush.
47 in US…..HUGE BOMB!
yeah right…
