she’s so intelligent and charming. i miss her being open like this in interviews. she’s starting to be, i’ve noticed.
Why the hell does Janet “no-talent” Jackson bother? Useless doesn’t begin to describe her. I’ve just seen the video to her latest desperate attempt at a comeback, “Make Me”.She’s still doing her clunky dance after 20 odd years, but this time the video is staged on the set of “Scream” just to remind us she’s Michael’s sister. I thought nobody could be as needy as Mariah but I was wrong.She must be ripping out her plastic hair extensions when she sees Madonna’s continuing success.
Talk about an evil madonna fan lashing out at another artist because they think Madonna is the only worthy pop star on the planet. BTW I watched the vid after reading your post – u must be seeing things b/c it’s not “on the set of scream to remind us she’s Michael sister”….there’s nothing worse than a queeny, campy, hateful madonna fan who slams everyone b/c they are not “Madonna”

the days when MTV actually cared and PLAYED music videos..
(none of this “Hills” / Piddy’s Band” / Whatever bullshit “reality”
shows…etc..etc…
the days when an MTV VMA really meant something…
days when Madonna put 110% into the conception, production,
and execution of her music videos, and then fresh new album…
“Erotica”
i recall,
hearing a 10 second teaser of the song Erotica during the 1991
VMA’s, and thought to myself “oooh, that sounds really cool!”
very different from anything on Like A Prayer…
then i heard and read about what Madonna was doing regarding
her next and new album (Erotica) and a new “coffee table book”
i thought, a coffe table book, from Madonna….really?!?
interesting…
then, i heard the single of Erotica, (it hooked me in an instant)
as did most of the many remixes, and as for the Erotica album
as a whole…just about perfect back in 1992
when i first heard “Justify My Love”,
i felt that Madonna had turned a corner musically, and was headed
down the right path, and evolution creatively speaking, and much to
my pleasure and surprise, the Erotica album was the perfect validation
of what i was hoping Madonna would put forth creatively
i can’t find not single track that i think is so-so, or boring

ALL of these sweet tracks sound just as fresh and enjoyable today..
as they did almost 17 years ago…not a bad track in the bunch
(except perhaps for the edit of Bye Bye Baby that ended up on the album)
the video edit of that particular track was a better match for the album
the baselines of Erotica / Bad Girl / Waiting / Secret Garden
Where Life Begins are some of the BEST ones Madonna and her
producers have ever written
the remixes of ALL of the singles from the Erotica album were
(at the time) some of the best remixes of Madonna songs i’d ever
heard, really slick, and well done, the mixes of Erotica / Bye Bye Baby
Deeper And Deeper hold up even today

as for the much hyped SEX book, and Girly Show tour, that is where
i feel Madonna lost the plot, in comparison to the superb album that accompanied them
the book itself wasn’t really “shocking” to me, i actually thought
it was a bit boring, and all too contrived in some sections
but…
there were some really great beauty shots of Madonna,
the Barbarella On The Beach look, and her Miami vixen looks were cool,
but for me, i wished she would have had the book shot by Helmut Newton,
and or someone else with some edge to them, Steven Miesel did an okay
job, but i think Helmut would have done Madonna a bit more proud
the Girly Show is my least favorite Madonna tour,
i think the show as a whole, looked like one giant mess, like the SEX book,
it had some sections that were cool, but overall, i think it was just a waste
too many long drawn out dance sequences, where Madonna should
have put in more of the tracks from Erotica, rather than Holiday,
Going Bananas, etc
but…it was what it was, and is what it is… still though,
i do miss that particular phase of Madonna’s career
more for the music and my youth than anything else
for me, the Erotica album is a lost gem,
it was sadly overshadowed by the SEX book, and Body Of Evidence

every song on erotica is fantastic.
I totally agree with MD. I couldn’t be bothered to read any of this pretentious drivel after struggling through the first couple of sentences. This shardy uses a hell of a lot of words to say NOTHING of interest.ZZZ indeed.

OMG…yawn…yawn…zzz…zzz….thank God you are not a writer for a magazine – you would cause it to go under with your boring and long winded pretentiousness…..I’m surprised you didn’t write what you thought she might have had for breakfast before recording ‘Erotica’ and how you thought it might have had an effect on her being able to hit a certain note that day.
