Personally, I love Madonna and think she’s really cool… but she wore THE single worst outfit of the year. That Louis Vuitton get up with the TV antenna headpiece was just awful. Akiva says “She is pretty consistent with her choices going from bad to bad. She should take some style pointers from Lourdes.” Both Madonna and Mariah received a lot of call outs in our poll. Anthony says Mariah’s style is “always too tight and outdated.” Felidette says it’s time for Mariah to dress her age and has a message for both divas. “Time to stop taking “Forever 21” so literally.” Ouch!

First of all, it was a COSTUME GALA. The MET Costume Gala as it was entitled. Marc Jacobs wanted the ladies to come in looking really fun, clubby, and eccentric! Not like the boring Chanel gown Anna Wintour wore!
The New York Fashion magazine praised Madonna’s outfit as ingenious, and the best get-up of the night!
Her outfit was to poke fun at how she looked like in 1983-1983. She used to have some 50s-styled hairstyle wrapped in legwarmers. Her in her Louis Vuitton get-up, she had the same hairstyle, but this time wrapped in bunny ears, which very much resemble the legwarmers in the 80s.
HOW CAN THEY NOT GET THAT??? All the dresses they thought were the worst that night, were actually the best for me. They were the most unique, creative, and outrageous!!! It’s the red carpet bitches, you cannot look understated! Especially in a MET COSTUME GALA.

I have always considered the New York media, art and fashion analysts among the very best in the world and sometimes even the best. New Yorkers are smarter, wittier, pay more attention to details and are not hung up on ageism. NY is a theater- stage city and the New Yorkers are able to get the immediacy of something that works live and in real life. On the other hand Hollywood was always a land of make belief /fake. Hollywood has always been jealous of Madonna. They sabotaged her movie career, because she outshone all the Hollywood starlets as well as Oscars.
Traditionally artist who were original, had something to say and wanted to make it on their own went to NY. Those who wanted to be molded by Hollywood machine went to Hollywood.
Even in 1985 when the legions of girls across the universe were trying to copy Madonna’s style, some tasteless style critics criticized Madonna while at the same time praising Whitney’s manufactured and over done style. Where is Whitney now? Whitney looks like a drug addict; her dresses as well as her sound are so outdated and her so called “all new comeback album” has sold less than Madonna’s American Life album. Do you hear anybody talking about her? Is she on any list? More importantly, on which list, for what reason and in which form.
On the other hand Madonna still makes it to the top of A lists that matter. At 51 she is still the biggest fashion icon around, she has had the biggest money making tour by any artist, all her recent albums have been international multimillion sellers, and her collection album Celebration is outselling most artist old and new. Just compare the numbers, the time from their release and the fact that here we talk about a collection album from which the songs have all sold well to great in practically everywhere around the world. And you know what, at this time neither numbers nor the critics’ opinions matter anymore. She has already concurred the world, has made plenty of money .
What matters the most is that Madonna does the things that she likes and believes in. She can decide to go with or against the flow because she has reached the kind of artistic freedom that other Hollywood manufactured starlets or airplay choirgirls could only dream about.
What does Whitney Houston have to do with this? Furthermore, why are you comparing album sales from 2009 to that of one released six years earlier?
The likes of Hollywood access have almost always criticized everything that Madonna has done, while praising other factory made starlets. Fashion is one of the areas where Madonna has always managed to steal the show. That goes for recordings and record sales too. Madonna has been making records great records throughout her career and through this decade. Considering the risks that she takes, her record sales have always been nothing less than great. Whitney is just one of the many examples of overrated upstart artists with backroom connections who don’t measure up to Madonna’s MaDjesty. Isn’t it strange that you don’t hear people criticizing byounces, rihanas, Britneys,,,,,, lack of style and quality work?????
Can you imagine any of them wearing this and looking as fabulous as Madonna?

Nice change. But regardless of whether they have Rihanna on that list this time, to me Hollywood access’s opinion is as trash as most films that come from there. Nowadays most quality films are made somewhere else and the hottest fashion come from Paris, Milan, NY and Düsseldorf. Who needs the Hollywood factory duds? I can predict what the fashions on its red carpets would be like next spring. But nobody can predict what Madonna is going to wear next time she steps out of her home.

When did Access Hollywood begin to matter?
As far as I am concerned they don’t matter, never did and never will. They are all a bunch of fake journalists. If they were any good, they would be hired by NY times and NY daily news. Anything that comes out of Hollywood can’t be taken too seriously. Thank God Madonna didn’t come from there. She was born in Michigan and groomed to be the Queen of Universe in NY.
Lame. How can you put Madonna on this list over one dress? I’m sure including the “rabbit ears” was her way of sticking her middle finger to the so-called fashion police. And please don’t ever put Madonna in the same category as Mariah. Ever.

Some people will never get it. Those who call Madonna’s name in the same breath as must be out of their minds. Madonna has always been on top of style game. She has more style in her little dinger than Mariah has ever shown.
Rules don’t apply to Madonna and the day she follows the conventions, I would stop being a fan. She looks drop dead sexy and high fashion yet at the same time she keeps a certain street/ ghetto bad girl in this outfit.
That headpiece or whatever on earth you may wish to call it looks more glamorous and outstanding in an in your face way than a crown. She has done something right to get the haters talking about her.

I’ve actually already seen other women wearing the ‘rabbit ears’ at other events, etc., so Madonna is STILL setting trends. How many female singers are doing the leotard thing now (Confessions era, like 3+ years ago Madonna did it already) and the corset look, etc. These morons don’t get it, Madonna has always been ahead of her time and everyone else follows. They did hit it right on the head with Mariah though. She always looks like a hootchie. Ugh.

In my opinion, “best dressed” or “worst dressed” doesn’t apply to Madonna. There are certain superstars who are chic and stylish no matter what they wear. Madonna’s style comes from her attitude, not only from what she wears. I loved that Luis Vuitton outfit (except those ridiculous rabbit ears, comlements of Marc Jacobs) and thought she looked hot. I’m sure every designer out there would be beyond ecstatic to have Madonna wear their creations because she personifies style.
Madonna is always well dressed but the Vuitton outfit was for fun. To say this dress is bad is showing a desperate lack of sense of humor!
