The moment that Madonna and Britney Spears puckered up to each other at the MTV Video Music Awards has been voted the top kiss.
The 2003 kiss, which made headlines around the world, tops a list of the most famous kissing moments of the Noughties, compiled by Selfridges.
Tobey Maguire’s upside-down smooch with Kirsten Dunst in Spider-Man came second, followed by Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal’s slow-burning snog in Brokeback Mountain.
Same sex kisses scored highly in the poll – Scarlett Johansson with Penelope Cruz in Vicky Cristina Barcelona, and Lindsay Lohan with Samantha Ronson outside the Mercer hotel in New York, marking their couple status, both made the list.
Jennifer Aniston and Winona Ryder’s liplock on Friends, and Sacha Baron Cohen giving Will Ferrell a big smacker at the 2007 MTV Movie Awards, recreating the infamous Madonna and Britney incident, also feature in the top ten.
Romantic screen snogs with rumoured real-life couples completed the list, including Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in Twilight, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt in Mr And Mrs Smith, and Freida Pinto and Dev Patel in Slumdog Millionaire.

it was pretty cool, quite memorable
The sex book was a great media outlet to show the world about all the sex stuff that no big star dared to talk about. Madonna naked, asking for ride in heavy traffic during the day in Miami Beach . She looked hot and beautiful with blond long hair and high pumps. Then She was tight up doing “water sports” in a sling ; hanging out in leather in gay bars doing snm;Kissing skin heads attractive and unattractive people, Holding a syringe in her mouth at the end of the Erotica video. All of it was shocking, beautiful filmed, cold but yet warm. Maybe for heterosexuals the Britney S. was hot and new, for us the gays, Madonna had really done it all with art and great music. The erotica album and American Life are her best albums, they maybe didn’t become main stream (very glad about it) but they were the 2 albums that she just made really about being herself.

That was the most lame, staged kiss. I doubt Madonna knew how strongly the stupid general public would react. There was nothing hot or scandalous about that smooch….and it’s sad but laughable how it was made into something big. I enjoyed their overall performance (including Christina A.), though.
