Madonna tried to help her homeless brother

…Speaking publicly for the first time this week about his troubled past and difficult relationship with his famous sister, Anthony makes it clear the story is not a simple one — as anyone who has ever dealt with an addicted loved one will probably know.
It is clear that Madonna knows about his plight, and that she has repeatedly offered to help by paying for him to go into rehab. His father has offered to give him his job back if he gets professional help.
But ask Anthony whether his sister and their 80-year-old father, Tony, have helped him and he is immediately riled.
‘I’m a zero in their eyes; a non-person, an embarrassment,’ he tells me, his voice rising.
‘If I froze to death, my family probably wouldn’t know or care about it for six months.’
Anthony, who has considerable reserves of self-pity, but little capacity to be honest about himself, says he doesn’t need rehab, which is ‘boring’. He just needs a job, he says, and to meet the son he hasn’t seen for ten years.
‘My family seem to think rehab is some kind of magic panacea for life’s ills,’ he says, cracking open a bottle of his favourite tipple, Wild Irish Rose, a strong and ruinously cheap fortified wine.
He says he agreed to go into rehab six years ago, with Madonna paying for him to spend two months drying out in a clinic in Houston, Texas, for what he calls his ‘supposed’ alcoholism. Perhaps, given that attitude, it’s not surprising it didn’t work.

Rumor: Madonna set to play Olympics gig

Madonna is to play a huge concert in London next year to coincide with the 2012 Olympics.

The 53-year-old singer will perform to 60,000 fans in Hyde Park next July when the UK capital will host the prestigious sporting event.

A source close to the ‘Hung Up’ hitmaker – who recently took a break from music to direct new movie ‘W.E’ – told The Sun newspaper: “Madonna is planning a huge comeback and was determined to do it at Hyde Park while the Olympics are on.

“She’s been out of the limelight musically for a while but is ready to jump back into the saddle and thinks there’s no better time to do it than when London hosts the Olympics.”

Earlier this week, it was also revealed Madonna is to perform at next February’s Super Bowl, where she will headline the annual NFL match after beating off competition from Lady Gaga.

A source said: “When Madonna heard Gaga was in the frame, she knew she had to step up her efforts. She is going to deliver the kind of show never seen before in NFL history.”

In headlining the prestigious sporting event, Madonna is following in the footsteps of stars including the Rolling Stones, Black Eyed Peas, Justin Timberlake and the late Michael Jackson.

Rumor: M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj on Madonna’s New Single

from Madonnarama:

Madonna will be performing five songs at next year’s Super Bowl XLVI at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on February 5.

We can also reveal that she will be singing the very first single – a never-heard-before song co-produced by Martin Solveig – from her forthcoming album !

The track is called “Give me all your love” and it’s a very catchy tune.

The performance is supposed to include some heavy choreography with major cheerleading action!
The cheerleaders are about to tumble, dance, jump and stunt while cheering some “M-A-D-O-N-N-A” in the stadium while she sings her new song.

from MadonnaTribe:

Sources have exclusively confirmed to MadonnaTribe that confirmed producers of the new album are William Orbit, Solveg and Benny Benassi adding that the sound of the record is definitely pop dance and that at this very moment Nine Tracks of the album are ready.

Further more, as already reported today by MadonnaTribe the first single has already been choosen and features two vocal guests: MIA and Nicki Minaj. The song will also be presented during the SuperBowl appearance.

Photographers Mert and Marcus have been chosen to shoot the new album cover.
The photoshoot is happening towards the end of the year but they have already done the campaign for her coming fragrance called Truth Or Dare (the Madonna fragrance MTribe reported a few years back is finally happening after so many delays!)

In more music news, Madonna is going to put in her WE movie a brand new ballad she has penned and that she performs, but we have been told that at this stage it has not yet been decided if it will also be put on the new record or will remain a WE exclusive.

In other news we have been told the cover of the upcoming Harper’s Bazaar has just been shot by Tom Munro!

Madonna’s Iconic Sale

Madonna’s black bustier, worn on the star’s Who’s That Girl tour in 1987, has been sold at an auction for £45,000 – way above its pre-sale estimate of £4,000 to £5,000.
Custom-made by LA-based store Trashy Lingerie, the piece was originally worn with fishnet tights and has previously been exhibited at The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Ohio and The Frederick’s of Hollywood Museum in LA. It was auctioned off last weekend in Beverley Hills.
The costly bustier gives Miranda Kerr’s £1.6 million Victoria’s Secret bra a run for its money, of which the model will wear at the label’s annual fashion show on November 29.

Madonna’s Borderline on Time’s 100 All Time Best Pop Songs

Our critics pick the most extraordinary English-language pop recordings since the beginning of TIME magazine in 1923. Here are 100 (unranked) songs of enduring beauty, power and inventiveness

‘Borderline’

Artist: Madonna
Year Released: 1984

When “Borderline” was released as a single in February 1984 I was 11: not quite old enough to be in love with a boy, just the right age to fall in love with a pop song. We fell en masse, the girls in my Catholic middle school, and as much as we could look like Madonna — lacy bows, mousse-mussed hair, fingerless gloves — while still pulling off the uniform kilt, we did. (Maybe the kilt didn’t hurt, actually.) What was it about “Borderline” that hooked us? That slightly adenoidal, approachable voice; the look Madonna had in the video of a cool big sister crossing over into womanhood, deciding what kind of woman she wanted to be; the tantalizing frustration not just of being in love but of constantly having one’s love pushed over the borderline. Madonna went on to sing more-clever songs (“Material Girl”), more-showy songs (“Like a Prayer”), more-sexy songs (“Justify My Love”). But “Borderline,” her first top-10 hit, captures the essence of her pop appeal, its freshness, simplicity and vitality.

Madonna distressed by stalker

Madonna has told a court of how she was left “alarmed and distressed” after a man broke into her London home.

In a statement, the singer said she feared for her children’s safety when Grzegorz Matlok, 30, managed to get into her house in March.

A judge ordered the Polish national to be detained indefinitely in a psychiatric hospital, as he posed a serious risk to the singer.

He is also banned from going within 100 metres of any of Madonna’s properties.

Mr Matlok broke into the singer’s house after smashing a window and using a rope and scaffolding to enter the property through a first floor window.

He was found to have rifled through Madonna’s bedclothes before stealing a can of Red Bull from the kitchen, where he was discovered by film director Nathan Rissman.

A map with a large “M” scrawled over Madonna’s home and a bag containing a safety knife, nail scissors, a coach ticket from Poland and Matlok’s passport were found in a bag outside the property.

Mr Matlock, who travelled to England from Poland three days prior to the incident, later told police that the singer had given him permission to stay at the property.

A year previously, he had sneaked into the Wiltshire estate Madonna used to share with her ex-husband Guy Ritchie and was caught putting on his clothes.

In her statement, Madonna said: “I do not know the defendant, I’ve not had any form of relationship with the defendant nor have I had any form of contact by phone or by email, or by any other way, with the defendant.

“In particular I’ve never given the defendant permission to enter the premises or any of my other premises.

“It is extremely unsettling to know that, despite the extensive security I have, he has been able to break into two of my residential properties.

“I’m worried about my children’s safety as well as the safety of my staff.”

The court heard that Mr Matlok suffered from “delusions that Madonna loved him” but, according to consultant psychiatrist Dr Nadji Kahtan, his schizophrenia could be controlled by medication.

In making her ruling at Southwark Crown Court, judge Deborah Taylor told Mr Matlok: “It is the view of the doctors’ that if you fail to take medication you pose a risk to Madonna Ciccone of real harm.”

W.E. London BFI Premiere – Review and Pictures by George

I went down to Leicester Square at around mid day to find a few of Madonna’s fans waiting outside while the barriers were starting to be put in place. The W.E signs were up in place over the Empire Cinema and already excitement was kicking in!

When I returned later after some lunch and local drinks we walked the red carpet and spoke to many Iconers and Madonna related friends. It was more like an Icon get together in all honesty, was great to see so many familiar faces and those I have spoken to but not actually met! Just as we walked past the photographers and the huge crowd of spectators Madonna’s car arrived so we were ushered in!

Once inside I made my way to my seat which was the back row of the stalls R28. I could not believe that the row behind me, in the seat directly behind me, was where Madonna was to sit! Her name printed on paper attached to the seat. Was so excited to think I am able to share this moment with Madonna at such a special event.

Everyone took their seats and with a brief introduction to the stage Madonna made her entrance. Madonna then went on to introduce the movie before taking her seat. My favorite Madonna moment of the night occurred once Madonna was seated when a fan seated behind her shouted out something relating to the Lady GaGa comparison to which Madonna responded “Lady Who?!!!” I thought great response!!!

The movie In my opinion did not deserve the bad reports it has received of late. To me the negative reports seem to focus more on the fact that Madonna is involved rather than the movie itself. I loved the filming technique, it was shot beautifully and the crossover of stories between Wallace and Wally worked alongside each other. I personally warmed more to the storyline of Wally more so than that of Edward and Wallace Simpson, and thought Abbie Cornish’s acting was flawless and made the movie for me. The soundtrack was excellent and overall the whole production is something Madonna should be proud of. It was worthy of the standing ovation at the end of the screening. After applauding Madonna I managed to take a few photos to share with you all.

Madonna concluded the screening with a 15 minute Q&A session hosted by a London Film Festival spokeswoman/representative before leaving the venue. All in all I had a great night, really enjoyed the movie and it was great to spend a night at a Madonna event outside of musical performance. In addition to this I was able to meet and hang out with other Madonna fans which always makes these events much more enjoyable.
