I think that now only stupid catchy songs like gangnam style can become hits. If a good song sells as a single is because is not included yet in an album and the only way fans can buy it is through itunes or whatever, for example, last Bowie single. When he releases his album, the other singles won’t chart. I hope that next compilation by Madonna is a “best of” instead of a collection of hits. By the way, many songs who became classics were actually not hits nor even singles, like songs from Velvet underground or Los Ramones.

this whole mdna thing just doesn’t live up to her standards…

She’s the Queen of Reinvention, why not comeback with a rock oriented album.. She has never done this before and she loves play guitare. I think it will be great

    Not hard rock lol but more like pop/rock like the new Coldplay or something like that, electro/soft rock sound. She had this type of voice.

  some parts of Ray of light have been very rock-oriented. but to be honest – rock is totally out nowadays, so this won’t happen.

    Coldplay sold over 8 million copies with a soft rock/electro album and the tour gross near 200 million so i don’t think it’s out nowaday

    Ray Of Light is a rock song with a dance instrumental. But rock is not out. I would like pop rock, but not like Alanis Morrisette or Avril Lavigne, but like Coldplay, Muse and U2

this era was nice, but to be honest – i’m rather happy that it’s over now (maybe there will be one more single release?). let’s hope that she will invest more time and creativity into a new album/era/tour. altough it’s very unlikely i’m still hoping for a timeless work and big like “ray of light”……….no more pr-produced tracks, but real music with heart and soul……

  Exactly, we all know she puts time and money on world tours because they provide much money then music albums. But after a while, she needs to make good music that catches people that make them want to see her in concert. And by good music I’m not talking about bubble-pop songs, I’m talking about something new, something mature, actual but with a more profound sound, like Ray of Light like you said. I’m really enough of songs like 4 Minutes, Give it 2 Me, Girl Gone Wild, Celebration.. catchy songs not addapted for a near 55 years old woman. She needs to comeback with something like Ray of Light, Bedtime Stories, American Life or even Erotica..
