August 16th #MadonnaDay

Madonna fans! On August 16th, we’ll be celebrating The Queen of Pop’s Birthday and we want for you all to join the party!
Back in September 2013, Madonna launched her Art For Freedom platform for all of us to share our own definition of Freedom but also to encourage creative expression that brings awareness to human rights violations. With thousands of submissions, (including photos, videos, music and poetry) the project has grown into a strong online community fighting for the universal right to be free.
Since the initiative is a cause close to Madonna’s heart, we would like for you to wish her a Happy Birthday by adding your stone to the Freedom building! To do so, just visit www.artforfreedom.com before August 15 at 11am EST and submit a picture that illustrates your own vision of what our world should be all about if we all had the same rights and freedom to be who we are. The picture can be a portrait, a landscape, a selfie, or whatever you think it should be. Make sure to include a description and feel free to add your Birthday message for Madonna as part of it.
On August 16th, we invite you to post your submitted picture to your favorite social network(s), using the ‪#‎MadonnaDay‬ and ‪#‎ArtForFreedom‬ hashtags for your friends, fellow Madonna fans, our girl herself and the whole world to see! Some of Madonna’s favorite pics will be highlighted on artforfreedom.com and/or be mailed branded goodies
Happiness, love, joy, peace, etc,.. Let’s make your picture something that will bring a smile to Madonna’s face and make her feel we are all one on her special day!

Dita Von Teese talks Madonna

After being asked which pop stars she feels have incorporated elements of Burlesque successfully into their performances, Dita said:
“Every persona she has taken on she’s translated to the very heights of where it could go. I don’t see anybody in modern pop music that can really do that. When I look at Madonna, I see that she gets every detail correct, and she has a good team too, but it takes someone’s leading at the top to really arrive to that.”
She continues, saying: “That’s why when I see pop shows I’m like ‘oh wow this isn’t very interesting’, you know, Madonna was wearing Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture on stage in the 90s “
And later adds: “I don’t hear anything [on the radio today] that’s relative to Prince, David Bowie, and Madonna. Stuff that really stands the test of time.”

Madonna Fires Back In Hard Candy Beauty Company Lawsuit

Madonna isn’t giving up without a fight.

Beauty and fashion brand Hard Candy sued the “Material Girl” crooner and her manager Guy Oseary for copyright infringement and unfair competition, claiming the pop star stole the company’s name to sell her fitness apparel and DVDs in 2011 even after her U.S. Patent and Trademark application was rejected. But now RadarOnline.com can exclusively report that Madonna requesting the court dismiss the case!

In documents obtained by Radar, Madonna claims that because she has never done business in Florida (Hard Candy is a Florida-based company), the court doesn’t have jurisdiction over them!

“This Court may not exercise general jurisdiction over any of the New Defendants because none of them has ‘continuous and systematic general business contact[s]’ with Florida such that they can be determined to have ‘engaged in substantial and not isolated activity within this state,’” the documents read.

The “Vogue” singer also argues that neither she nor her manager had any say in the trademark management decisions. In fact, she alleges that she only has final say on the creative aspects of the business – not operational decisions. Madonna claims she has had only two personal interactions with HCF, the third-party company she gave the rights to use her unregistered trademark.

Because she wasn’t involved with the decisions, Madonna is requesting that the suit be dropped.

Charli XCX on Madonna

I’ve heard a few people say you’re kind of like early Madonna. What goes through your mind when you hear that comparison?

They say that? That’s cool. I don’t think that I’m a pop star. On paper, I’m bad at being a pop star with the conventional idea people have. Madonna was someone who didn’t get put in a box. She changed and evolved. The second someone tries to put me in a box, I will do everything to rebel against that. One thing I don’t understand is how people want you to replicate your past successes. Being an artist should be about freedom and not just becoming one thing, because I think that’s terrible and boring.
