Liz Rosenberg comments on Madonna’s contract with WMG

Madonna is considering leaving her current label Warner Music Group (WMG) after her next two albums are released, her publicist told

Among the alternatives the pop music icon is considering is a deal with Los Angeles-based Live Nation, Britain’s leading promotions company and venue owner, said Liz Rosenberg, who represents Madonna and also works at WMG.

Music industry insiders have estimated such a move could be worth $100 million to the Material Girl.

But before any new contracts with Live Nation, WMG or any other company can be arranged, Rosenberg said, Madonna will release her forthcoming and as-yet untitled album set to come out later this year or early next and a greatest hits album with WMG, the label she has been with throughout her career.

“Once that’s done, Madonna is a free agent,” Rosenberg said. “Her management is considering a move to another company.”

The news comes only weeks after WMG stock dropped to an all-time low, dipping below $10 to $9.79 a share, as reported by’s 411 on Aug. 7.
